You may have to trial a few different things to find what works. Sometimes they may not wet through and then other times they are soaking. We use VBSNs and they a good fit and do the job nicely teamed with wool covers.
I couldnt imagine using a BBB, sometimes Will sleeps in his for a two hour day sleep and its completely saturated - heavy wetter alert!
Your initial idea sounds great and dont be afraid to experiment to find what works - be sure to have spare sheets on standby lol!
