How's it going? What a wetter!!
I agree that a basic nappy can be much better with good boosting in and outside the nappy (inside the cover). (That being said, it is more true with a mobile toddler than a lying in the one position weeing all the time 7wo (now 8wo!))
The only other thought is to check the fit of the covers, sometimes PUL's on small bodies don't fit well, which would accentuate that leaking. A fleece cover may give better protection but I couldn't guarantee that on a small baby, but they are cheap to make and try out or buy and try out.
Is there someone you could borrow some hemp or bamboo nappies from for the few weeks until the others arrive? (Sorry I am in NSW or I could russle up a couple.)
I know that for me, only hemp would do when my DD2 was little. (That was pre-bamboo).
