WOOO Did it! A week away with not a sposie in sight!
Just came back from a week in QLD with hubby and DS (4MO), and did cloth all the way there and back! My mum was saying before we left "You know, there is a place for disposables and this might be it..." but I was determined to at least give it a shot, figuring I could buy some up there if desperate.
So
Travel there and back: roughly a 5hr each way trip, not counting messing around with car rentals etc. Used a couple of pockets (GreenKids and Pocket Change were the ones I had clean before we left) and took 3 sets of inserts per pocket. Lots of plastic bags for the used bits. Got funny looks walking up and down the aircraft isle with a clean cloth nappy in my hand but hey! I tend to get that a bit with him in cloth wherever we go.
While up there: I took 8 x zappy nappies and 6 x mandy macs (didn't want to take my fancy expensive nappies, plus these ones dried the quickest)
I did a wash every day (had the change table set up next to the washing machine in the apartment, so the dirties went straight into the machine.
Air dried the nappies on the verandah, except the last wash on the day we left which went into the dryer.
DH was surprised how easy it was, and even Mum admitted that it was OK!
So now I am convinced it is possible, I am just trying to work out how to do a 2 week trip to Europe, staying in hotels, and not really wanting to lug around heaps of nappies or spending all my good exploring time hanging around in laundrettes.
But that is July's problem.
