I agree that if you don't want day care to have huge puddles, the One Wet Pants from Noonee Wilga are great, as they catch the bulk of the wee and just make it easier.
I my opinion the issue of confusion between home strategies and day care strategies varies from child to child - some would be fine with it, others confused. It might depend on how motivated they are to being a big girl in pants or whether they are just considering being a big girl and only want to "consider' in the security of home or whether toilet training is more adults training little one in which case same strategy needed at all times! I reckon it needs to be a decision by the parents/carers who know the personality and learning style of the little one.
Training pants have been very helpful for our girls, but their use is very dependent on the specific training circumstances - not everyone needs them, my guess is that day care centres don't generally use them, they are happy to clean up puddles!
