Default Help please - Red but not sore bottom

My DD has had a red bottom for a couple of days, it isn't sore but it is over the entire nappy area.

She generally wears terry flats at home but I used a couple of PUL pockets on Christmas day and that seemed to start it off, even though it wasn't hot and she was changed regularly.

I've tried cornflour but her bottom is dry anyway, camomile tea, nappy free time (limited,) muslin nappies for lots of air, hydrozyloe (cortisone cream) and nilstat ointment incase it's thrush. Nothing has had any effect and the red area has increased. I havn't changed washing powder and her nappies are line dried in plenty of sun.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing it and how I can treat it?

We live some distance from shops and being between public holidays I really need stuff I can do at home

    Couple of thoughts.
Check the formulation on your washing power to make sure it hasn't changed.

Some bubs are sensitive to PUL.

Sorry but no idea on how best to treat it other than lots of nappy free time and soothing stuff in case it is sore.

Hope you find a solution soon

My solution is Calendula cream... and plenty of it at each nappy change.

    Works a treat here

Thanks for eveyone's help and suggestions. Where can I buy Calendula cream? I'll try anything to clear it up before it becomes irritated.

She ate fairly normally over christmas except that she had a few chocolates, normally she never eats sweets, but my older DD's had some and Kate was not going to be left out. Her diet has gone back to normal, so hopefully if it was that it will be short lived.

I don't think it can be the washing powder, it takes ages to get through a box and we've been using the same one for weeks, unless she has just developed a reaction to it......we use small amounts of Omo sensitive because DH reacts to everything else

I'll try more nappy free time too, thank god it's summer

I use a raw silk nappy liner inside my dds nappies to get rid of redness. i use them until the redness goes away which usually takes only 1 day. Silk has natural anti-bacterial properties that prevent yeast infections which causes the nappy rash. you can buy them at various online cloth nappy stores for around $4 each. see http://www.nurturenappies.com.au/sto...t.asp?One=1306
