Default Sudden Super Red Bum HELP

    Hi,
Yesterday my DS had a nappy on for about an hour, then I went to change him as it was bath time and he had done a poo and his bum was SUPER red. It had been perfectly fine 1 hour before.
I then tried to put him in the bath and he screamed as soon as his bum hit the water and was really upset so we gave him a wipe down outside the bath. I used sudocream and a sposie on him last night, and today I have been using bottom balm, NFT and fitteds without covers to try and heal it.

The only thing that changed was I gave him some oat cereal about 15 min before the nappy change. Everything else was the same-Washing powder, food etc

Could he be allergic to the oats? Would it take effect that quickly?? He may be teething but I wouldn't have thought it would come on so suddenly and so red

I dont think its thrush as its solid red, not spotty. Its like sunburn.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to the cause and treatments??

    TIA
    Amy

Not much better really. He was ok in bath tonight though.
Will get some cham tea and try that. Maybe it is a teething thing????

We have had sudden red bum here too twice. It is terrible. DS just started screaming in the backyard one day, we thought he was tired, couldn't smell poo, only had changed him 15 - 20 mins earlier. We had no idea took his temp, offered dummy, somehow thought about taking his nappy off and his bottom was completly red the poor darling. I used zinc and castor oil cream, cornstarch flour,(powder), cool bath. The poor darling cried uncontrollably for about 45 mins.

THe next time a few months later we were on the ball when he started crying out of the blue and took his nappy off and his bott was red but not as bad.

Both times I put it down to teething. It is terrible when it happens and just lucky it has only been really bad twice.

One of my boys gets this exact thing when he does a toxic fruit poo! He loves fruit of all types, but he eats too much at times and it just goes straight through him like acid. Burns their bum super quick. He has one this afternoon actually- I left him for 1 hr with DP and so I am not sure exactly when he did it but when I got home he was red raw. I highly recommend Desitin or Daktozin cream form the pharmacy- heals it very quickly, but might stain your nappies so either use a liner or a sposie.
