Just to add to the above, our little baby had TERRIBLE nappy rash - bright red - all over her bottom and down her legs. i was using a nappy wash service with tee wraps at the time. When I started using A LOT of barrier cream and switched to non-plastic pilchers, the rash went away. I've since started using my own hand made nappies and occassionally use barrier cream, but the rash hasn't come back for a long time.

for me, a bit of a rash (and i think it looks like his nappy is too tight) is preferable to the possible damage disposables can do

Fantastic! I'm new here and I'm so glad I found this topic because it's happening to my son too (ironically at 4 months as well and he never got a rash prior to this). I will follow all the advice here - wish me luck!
