    Default a puzzle for you

ok nappy gurus, i need your help to solve my mystery..

Cameron has been getting rashes, mostly on the edge of where the nappy sits.
i have put it down to the nappies which have a PUL outer, his GK being the worst offender.

the other day from his GK he had a serious rash all over his nappy area.

i have been making sure i change the PUL outer nappies every 2/2.5hrs max, i change the others about every 3 or so hrs.

the PUL outer nappies i have which are causing him concern are a itti, GK, and not so bad micro monkeys, his origional monkeys have been retired because of this problem too.

the rash which occurs on the edge of where the nappy sits can be cleared up in 24hrs and the skin which was affected then becomes very dry and flaky for a short while.
the rash he had all over his crutch the other day took 2 days to clear up. i use bepanthen and paw paw ointment to clear it up and more frequent nappy changes.

his minky bubblebubs, blueberries, berry plush, d'lish are fine and cause him no problems, neither do his night nappies

i have strip washed to eliminate the build up of detergents incase that was the culprit, it made no difference.

    i'm at a loss..
    any ideas???

(one good thing is i get to replace my PUL outers with new ones!)

He may just have supersensitive skin that doesnt like non-breathable fabrics. He's not the first baby to not like PUL. Id just stick with the others that work fine for you. And as you said, you now get to replace the PUL outers, so have fun shopping!

I know you said the itti did it, but it's not actual rubbing on a looser fit nappy is it?

Clarinda, is he becoming more mobile these days? The same thing happened to me when Becky was around 9-10 when she started standing up and cruising around the house a lot. And yes the PUL nappies were the offenders, I had to stop using all of them. No strip wash/hot wash/double,triple rinses did any improvement so I just used fitteds with wool soakers instead.

My thought is that the elastics on those PUL nappies are rubbing their skin when they're moving about (not sure why the elastics on the other nappies have no affect on them though ). Eventually the problem disappeared itself and we're back to those offenders no probs

the PUL itti is a med, and is a very snug fit, thats a good thought though!

my word he is! that is a very valid point and makes ALOT of sense!

what is the fabric against his skin in the GK? that too gives him a rash

Pickle likes to be difficult, he can't tolerate PUL against his skin
    He also reacts to suedecloth
BUT the GK we had seemed to make it worse than any of the other suedecloth inners we had... don't know why???
He is fine with minky pul though...
