I reckon at his age it's the bite of the toxic toddler night wee.
I honestly don't know what you can do about it though. We had issues for ages with Rory with it - and it really only settled down once he was weeing in the toilet before bed - meant that the next wee in the nappy was only there for a couple of hours before he got up in the morning. Only other thing you could maybe try is a silk liner next to his skin. Might neutralise some of the acid

oh no! once he's in the bath there's no getting him out!
that would cause the tantrum from hell which isn't what I'm looking for first thing in the morning LOLI've covered his bum with Curash powder tonight - will see if that helps. Need to get some bottom balm from somewhere. Anyone recommend anything and where to get it? |

lol. ok how about a splash with a bucket standing in the bath lol.
any balm should protect against the friction, i like and have tried aromababy (smells yum), and a natural pawpaw and ess oil one even bepanthem would do

I was thinking that maybe Marcus has reached the stage where his wee is more concentrated than it used to be. If they are day toilet trained, this is when they will start waking up dry in the morning but as Marcus isn't at this stage yet, he will still wee but it'll be more concentrated, which would burn his skin, I'd imagine. I think the only way of really helping if this is the case would be to use a bum cream to put a barrier between his skin and the wee.
I hope you work out something but one disposable a night is not a big deal anyway and his comfort is the most important thing.

Along the lines of other posters...maybe use a big liner, even a flushable one, and coat his bum and wherever it is red with a barrier cream. If it is the wee then powder won't help, you need something like Zinc and Castor Oil cream, on nice and thick. Sounds gross but it really works to stop the wee getting to the skin.
Only downside is that barrier cream wreck cloth nappies if you are not careful. You may have to hot strip wash all of your night nappies. If you have a few you could save them and do a few together? Good Luck,
