    Question Benji's butt

    Heya oh wise ones

As most of you know benji has bowel issues. For the past couple of months he's been in sposies (no water in the tanks, and enormous amounts of pooy nappies).

Anyway, he keeps rashing from the harshness of the poos... really bad.
Today he is back in MCN BUT every time he wee's, the one tiny bit of rash left absolutely kills him. It's now starting to make him try to hold onto his wee.... he keeps trying to hold in his poos too.

I can't bath him because we're using river water for bathing atm, and I'm worried about infection with him sitting in the water (we only shower, that way no sensitive bits are soaking in the water iykwim).

I've been using medihoney on him, which is usually really fast acting. But not this time.

I'm wondering what fabric I should use for liners instead of the fleece ones he has now... I'm thinking they have abit to do with it. I 've tried the cotton ones as well, but it doesn't draw the wee away like the fleece does, and it sticks to him as soon as it's wet anyway. What other fabric would draw away the wet, but not so much as to make the rash raw?

Any advice? I'm so tired from being up and down al the time from him being upset. He's abit sick atm too with this stupid bug we all have, so I don't think that is helping.

I know I should know all this, but atm my brain is in hospital with the flu.

*if I owe you a PM I will get to it tonight sometime! I'm really sorry, it's been hectic here*

    Poor Benji, hugs.

I'd think something with a more natural fibre content and a longer pile. So I'm thinking cotton velours, bamboo or hemp fleece. The pile should let the wee flow through to the inner of the nappy and have it in too much contact with his skin.

    *lightbulb moment!*

Ahuh! Thankyou Tracee. I'll try some of my pads as liners! (I have enough *chuckles*).

Yep Bec he was going great guns with the TT until this all started at the end of last year. Now we are back to scratch again. He is petrified of pooing with no nappy on because they are so ewww We've been trying the undies etc, but he just cramps up and screams.

Have you tried raw silk liners? They are meant to be good for rashes. We used them with great success a few years ago for Miya - though I'm sure her rash wasn't as bad as you little man's

Okay so it is that bad that he can';t work out if it is poo or wee. Poor little man. I have no idea what to suggest but perhaps so cornflower on him that you can dust on him

We found bamboo velour good for Katherine rashes together with a combination of curash powder and redgum bottom balm. She still occassionally rashes up, but we can knock it on the head pretty quick with those things.

do you know what is causing his runny poos?

Tyler, who is 3, has toddler diaroeah, and when he was in sposies it was terrible. His bottom would be raw and bleeding. Often the only relief was nappy off time, and now that is is TT he has no probs at all, as long as we are near a loo at the time that he needs it (which is NOW- not in 2 min!)

    (sorry if TMI)

His prob was made a lot worse by lactose. We are now lactose free, and although the poo hasnt firmed up, its only 1-2 times a day and its not so acidy, so even when he did have a nappy on it didnt hurt him bum so much.

Hugs, I hope you can find something to help your ds feel happier. have u tried the flushable/disposable liners? I dont know if they draw moisture away but is all I can think of sorry. and if u arent too woried about throwing a few liners out maybe try lansinoh as a barrier on his worst rashy spots just til they heal? I remember doing that when my DD5 had an extreme rash that was too painful to pee....

Sorry I can't offer anything more. Hope it all gets easier/better really soon.
