Default Oh no it's mild eczma (sp?) and blisters

I took DD to the docs yesterday as the outer of her 'wee wee' is all red with like red lines through it and looks all dry. She usually only gets blisters every so often. She has some blisters too on her bottom. The doc said it looks like mild eczema but he didn't seem to know how to help it. He just said perhaps put some cortizone cream on it.

For the moment I've put her in disposables till it clears (bought the wrong size but that's a whole other story!!!). I've been putting amolin cream all over her nappy area at each nappy change.

I'm hoping some people with some knowledge of eczema can help me as I'm not really sure about it. I'm thinking -
    a. Maybe the orange juice I've been giving her lately to help her with her poos is causing it? Or maybe that just caused the blisters.
    b. Maybe I should stop using my shampoo etc in the bath when I have a bath with her? Also stop using johnsons baby wash on her and just wash her in water?
    c. I wanted to wash the cloth nappies in canestan but I can't find it. Anyone know where it's found? What section?
    d. Any other ideas?

Thanks heaps!! I really can't afford these disposables and hate using them so I want to switch back asap!

Ive never given citrus to the kids due to bad rashes and blisters on there bums!......orange juice might be your culprit!

Levi had severe eczema till he was 2yrs old, and it was a dairy issue......it was all over him... no creams or lotions would stop the itching until we change his diet to goats products, everything changed!

The canestan wash is in the aisle where all the laundry detergents are. I think it's usually in the same spot as the napisan etc. It's a fairly big bottle.

Kirrily - I had a look in that section yesterday but couldn't see it. I'll go to a different store and look again .

I thought it would be easy to find. Maybe try a chemist?

I have seen the canesten wash in the chemist

I found with Mila she was very sensitive to acidic foods...like tomato and orange juice...always left sores!

...also J & J has some nasties in it so maybe look into a milder more natural wash?

Thanks, I'll look in the chemist.

Yeah I'll lay off the orange juice and see how that goes. I've been giving her a fair bit of fruits like orange etc and orange juices because she's been having trouble poopin'. She won't eat prunes or drink prune juice unfortunately.

She loves her dairy and it's never affected her before so I'm not sure if it could be that.

Oh I've heard that oats in a stocking is good for the bath. How much oats do you put in? And do you use that same batch more than once?

a goodsized handful of oats - dont use them more than once- but they are seriously brilliant!!! good for our skin too - DS had eczema and its pretty much cleared it all up. (after I had tried heaps of (very expensive lotions and potions)

also try pear juice for poos - its very good (get the golden circle one in the can-100% natural) its heaps betta than citrus - worked wonders for DS

I know people are reccomend changes of diet (dairy/wheat intolerances etc) but seriously they are far less common than u may think - if she hasnt shown a previous reaction to a substance its unlikely shes going to suddenly develop one

I would eliminate all other possibilities (citrus as its just too harsh and shampoo etc) first

also do a rinse of your nappies after u've washed them, to make sure the detergent is all rinsed out

If you have milk powder you can add that in the stocking too
