Question Continual redness, I’ve tried everything….

    Hi there,
My little one has had continual redness in the nappy area which tends to flare up and calm down, but hasn’t gone away completely for quite some time.

When she gets too red I have to put a disposable on her and use the zinc based nappy rash cream as this is the only thing I can find that works. I’ve tried the water based stuff and that doesn’t help.

I also find corn flour during the day helps to dry her out a bit. Is this ok to use every nappy change, do you think?

I use minimal detergent, have been washing nappies on hot cycle and hang nappies in the sun.

I use pocket nappies with bamboo inserts. I’ve tried a wool cover and a fitted bamboo nappy and that only made her feel wetter and made it worse.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? I think a barrier cream would help, are there any you can use with MCN? What about Vaseline?

    Thanks, I’d appreciate any advice…

Hmmm have you tried no detergent when washing? That might be affecting her... or.... using liners in the nappies because it may be the synthetic fabrics of the pockets affecting her.. or.... use moogoo and plenty of nappy free time to air the area out?

Might be a fungal thing as well - so some canestan in your wash to remove it?

Dunno - thats all the hints I have!

ETA - and as for barrier cream - I'm pretty sure you can use bepanthen nappy rash cream without any ill effects.

What kind of inners do the pockets have? My daughter gets a really bad reaction to suedecloth (ittis etc) Same as you described, the area goes really red. I have cut out some microfleece into liners, and she is fine with that. I also got some raw silk liners from daddle doo nappies (think they are on wahmnaps) and I use those if she gets any redness.

Oh I also let her run around in a fitted nappy without a cover, and change her a lot more often, like once an hour or as soon as she is wet.

No detergent, Canestan in the wash, silk liners, nappy off... Good ideas! what's moogoo?

The pocket nappies have fleece inners. Come to think of it, I have recently got a bunch of new pocket nappies so it might be the new fabric. Maybe this will improve once they have been washed more.

if my ds or dd had done a sneaky poo and it got left too long and they got red - fleece made it worse, natural inners helped heal them alot faster, despite being 'wet'.good for around the house too as its quicker/easier to see if a fitted with no cover id wet so you can change

Moogoo is a cream for nappy rash - its brilliant - all I ever use now. Even when DS gets blisters from his horrid teething poos - clears it right up!!!

They have their own website - am I allowed to link? MooGoo Udder Cream Sensitive Skin Including Psoriasis Eczema Seborrheic Dermatitis and Fungal Skin Conditions.

I check out the moogoo site. that looks great. Do you use the Eczema & Psoriasis Balm or the Skin Milk Udder Cream?
