    Exclamation Rash/sores advice...

I know I have been MIA lately, but I really need help with this if possible

DD2 had trouble as a nb with fleece liners to her mcn - it gave her eczema in her nappy area. She is now almost 10 months and I thought I'd try again before I sold off all our fleece-lined mcn for good!!

But one night in a fleece-lined night nnappy and the next morning she looked like she was burnt - two big red patches on her vulva I did lots of nappy free time and calendula cream and it was clearing up, but now she seems to have 3 or 4 small sores that look like the skin is broken on at least one and 2 or 3 look almost like pimples - could they be infected?

I am on ABs (have been since last Wednesday), and someone suggested it could be thrush, but from all descriptions I've read so far it doeasn't sound like it... there is no "rash" as such anymore, just these 3 or 4 sores. Any ideas?? I don't want to drag us all off to the dr if I don't have to iykwim...

    Cheers
    Lori

When Sienna had the same type of rash it got thrush in it. It didn't look like thrush that Haydn used to get, but improved almost immediately when we used Daktozin.

It is worth trying an anti-fungal cream for a day or two and if it doesn't improve take her to the doctor then.

Max had a heap of them like that and it turned out to be a staph infection. They were clusters of sores that looked like pimples. Some popped just from the friction/pressure of wearing a nappy. They just came up from one nappy change to another. I would go to the doctors and get it checked if it was me.

My son gets staph infection and it's always with fleece liners. It sounds like what you are describing. Now that he's had it though it seems to be a reoccuring thing. I don't put him in a night nappy at all anymore and we're doing a few things to correct the underlying problem.

Had the same problem with Alex - his would bleed & he has 2 scars now. I ended up having to put him in disposibles at night.
Doctor put him on a golden staf cream (can't remember the name) - but the only thing that seemed to clear it up for good was stopping the night nappies.
Take her to the doctor for sure.

My bub had something similar, went from red to looking like small puss filled pimples that wouldn't clear. Dr said something about a type of excema exacerbated by dryness of the skin in that area. She recommended Kenacomb ointment, (I think that's what it's called, it was a prescription) It cleared up but didn't completely clear until I started using sposies at night. I had been using bamboo and hemp fitteds for night with a fleece liner, but the spots always looked 'soggy' in the morning. The spots appear now if he stays too long in a poop nappy - daycare sometimes, sigh.
