    Default Really bad rash

James has a horrid rash on his poor little bottom.

Over the last few days, it has turned into several ugly open sores. His foreskin looks like it's been affected as well. It looks soooooo sore and he's been very very cranky.

I don't know if I should take him to the doctor or not. I tried to make an appointment today but he was full up.

I also don't know if I should continue using Sudocrem, use something else or use nothing at all.

I'd be very grateful for any advice.

Oh the poor little man I'd definitely be getting him to the Dr when you can. Do you think the sudocrem is aggravating it? I'd prob stop using it if it were me - it doesn't sound like it's doing much good, and could be making things worse. Creams on open sores aren't usually a good idea - you usually need to get them dried out as much as possible. Nappy free time would prob be a good idea, but i imagine you've thought of that.

Hope you can get it cleared up soon.

I haven't put any cream on it since yesterday.
DH keeps telling me I need to put Savlon on it but I'm not sure about that.

I'd take him to the doctor as the sores are open and may be prone to getting infected, also just to check for any underlying problem or cause.

And as Tea Lady said - I'd leave his nappy off whenever possible. Don't know about the savlon, it says you can use it for nappy rash, blisters etc so maybe try a little bit first to make sure he doesn't have any reaction? I have used it on Charlotte before (not on her bum though)

When Ashton had this it was because of the washing powder in his nappies. Since switching to just water and sun, no powder, we haven't had this as much. He gets it sometimes from the fleece inners still but it's rare now.
I used savlon and lots of nappy free time. Worked wonders and he would be healed up in no time. The best bum stuff is Bottom Balm. I used this most changes and it keeps his bum rash free.
Give the savlon a go and have no nappy on him while at home if you can.

Cam is always getting rahes, which appear like blisters. on the head of his penis too.

I have been using this SPECIALTY CREAMS (Eczma and Psoriasis balm) and a bum spray by a lady I found at Forster markets, its organic and made from lavender hydrosol, aloe vera, laender essential oil, calendula and grapseed extracts. the lavender makes it anti-microbial. the combinatation of these, as soon as he looks a little red, I put a bit of the cream on at night with his night nappy and use the spray for about 2ish days, with loads of nappy free time. and it hasn't flared up since.

The lady who I got the spray from doesn't have an online store as yet ( she said she was working on an etsy store back in feb when I was talking to her) but I have her phone number if you want to call her, she might be able to email you a price list etc. she told me I can order over the phone too.

I took him to the GP today and she suspects it's impetigo (school sores). She took some swabs to make sure it's nothing serious.

He woke up screaming last night around 2:30 pm (he normally sleeps until 6:30). Poor little fella. An hour of boob and cuddles helped him get back to sleep.

It doesn't really look as pusy as it did the other day, but it's still horrid. I've only put the ointment on 3 times so we'll see how it goes.

He slept through last night but hardly ate any of his porridge this morning and threw most of his food around all day yesterday.
