Default Don't know what I should do

Following up on my Really bad rash thread from a few weeks ago...

The impetigo sores went away after about 2 weeks, but came back about a week ago. I treated them with ABs last time (cream and oral liquid) and I'm pretty sure they did bugger all- the only remedies that seemed to work were salt baths and natural fibres.

Now it's back with a vengeance and I don't know what to do. I saw a naturopath yesterday and she recommended celloids (???) which he's been taking since last night. I'm really worried because the blisters are all over his penis and scrotum. His foreskin is swollen and the skin was peeling off it today.

Should I go back to the doctor, or persist with the celloids? A friend told me last night to use disposables for a week or so because the bacteria from the impetigo virus is still in all of Jimmy's nappies. I told her that I probably wouldn't do it, but am I being too stubborn? I thought that sunlight could kill pretty much anything!

    Thanks for reading!

I am sorry to hear that the rash is back.
I don't know about celloids, sorry! It doesn't sound like the ABs really helped either.
Poor little guy, hope you can beat the rash soon.
Sorry that I am of absolutely no help!

If his rash is that bad, and not getting any better, it probably wouldn't hurt to try using disposables for a few days and see if it helps, I think they keep the skin drier?

I hope you find something that works though.

school sores is a bacterial infection. It may be worth putting dettol or canestan in your wash of your nappies and making sure they are sun dried. as for your little boy maybe he needs a different antibacterial cream I would go back to the doc and see if you can get something else. Also try nappy free time, the salt baths are a good idea and won't hurt and probably will help. It may be worth trying some silk liners in the nappies as some peopple swear by that to help nappy area problems.
    hope it gets better soon

I was going to suggest the same as Jill, wash in an antibacterial wash. I have detol here for that reason, haven't had to use it yet thank goodness

Simon had something similar when he was about 12 months.

Curash baby powder was the only thing that worked for him. I applied it librally all over his bits and under his penis, the cream did nothing but the powder is fantastic, its zinc like in the cream but the powder was so much better.

I tried disposables but it really didn't help much, and the minute he was back in cloth it was back. I also got rid of all of my fleece liners and only used natural liners. If I had a favourite nappy I turned the booster around of used a piece of hemp fleece as a liner - hemp is amazing I truly think it is antibacterial after its been washed and washed.

Hope he is feeling better soon. Poor little tyke.

Yes we've have success each time with powder too, amazing how effective it is at drying the rashes up and getting rid of them. Poor little man, hope it's all behind you soon.

My lil' man has the same problem. It has been going on for nearly a year!!! We have been to Dr's tried different AB's and it still comes back. We use canestan in the wash but nothing has helped us. Unfortunately we have resorted to having disposables in the house and using them for 2/3 days a month if it shows it's ugly head. That's the only way we have been able to keep on top of it. One Dr told us that boys can get blistery sores until they are out of nappies. Go figure if that's true but for us it is reoccuring.

I have found salt water baths have helped but it's not a permanent solution for us.

I feel very sorry for your lil boy - my boys is in pain when it comes back
