    Default Bums a bit red

Logan is still in terry flats and I change him every hour to hour and a half and I line the nappy with fleece liners. His bum is always a bit red and he started getting little red blisters on his bum and I bought some Benpanthen (sp?) from the chemist and it has worked well.

Is there anything I can do to combat the redness? He is constantly doing the nb runny breastfed poohs so his bum doesn't get a break. Should I give him nappy off time at 3 weeks or not a good idea?

Any different liners I can try? I can't afford to buy anything different to try except for the flushable/throw away liners atm. I can buy some diff liners next Mon, (baby bonus hehe).

    Anything would be helpful!

I always used to give Charlotte nappy free time, I'd just put her on a towel and keep an eye on her so if she did poo, she didn't end up covered in it! I haven't used terries so I don't know about the rash with them, but if Charlotte gets a rash now I just make sure I use nappy cream and a microfleece liner - exactly as you're doing.

Also if you soaked the terries in Napisan, make sure that is thoroughly washed out, as Charlotte used to get a bit rashy from wearing clothes I had soaked in Napisan, so I'd imagine nappies would be the same.

Try the terries without the fleece. He may be reacting to the synthetic fibres of fleece.

And go for it with nappy free time, just somewhere nice and warm on a nice thick mat. If you could get a bit of sun on the area that would help heal his skin too, not too much of course, but this winter sun is lovely

Henry's had a bit of a rashy bottom too, but it's coincided with the rash that newborns get on his face so I just figure it's the same thing. I grabbed some of the Gaia baby moisturiser from the chemist and that seems to be helping. Ditto Tracee - have you tried the terry without the liners?

I have to say that desitin cream (available at chemists) clears up a rash in a few hours literally.....I used terry flats and found that it wasn't too hard to strip off the nappy either!

I too would suggest giving the liners a miss until it clears up. My DD didn't like synthetics too much (every second/third nappy was ok). Smoosh on the bepanthen cream too.

What about using Simmons paw paw cream? I use that sometimes? I will stop using the liners too.

I swear by cornflour every nappy change to totally dry out the area. It has helped reduce the redness my little one got a lot.

like others have said, I would try nappy free time, change ASAP when wet, and try without the liners in case the microfleece is contributing to the problem.

Logan's bum is a bit better today. The bepanthen helped alot and I slather it on every change. I have stopped using the liners too.
