Seeing as though i am about to convert to cloth nappies,i am also looking into the wipes.
I am reading all of your opinions on what materials to use for wipes,so thats not a problem, but what i would like to know, which be warned, may be a really silly question.....how do you use reusable wipes?. Do you have a tub of water next to the change table,or do you have them already wet in a tub?.Or do you not use water with them? I used to work in a childcare centre and we had the change tables next to a sink,so we had access to water there, but i dont have that at home.Plus with inquisitive toddlers constantly around(the girls share a room as does my son with my future step son),i dont really want to have water in their reach. Thanks

Hi
![]() I use a old huggies wipe box. I fill it with water, a little squirt of baby shampoo and a couple of drops of tea tree oil (natural antiseptic). Then just fold and put the cloth wipes in. I usually keep it near the change table, but sometimes keep it up on the bathroom sink (as Liv when through a phase of wanting to get to it), and just take it in when Liv needs a nappy change. I use a spray bottle that i take everywhere with me. it was once filled with a product called bum spray (has some lovely essential oils in it) but now it's water added to the remnants.

I've brought some face washers from The Warehouse, all in one color. And different to what we use for ourselves. I just wet one before I change the nappy. When I go out, I just have a couple in the bag.

In the house, I just grab any face washer around and wet under the tap just before I use it.
If I'm out, then I wet the dry face washers with either a tap (if in a parents' room) or with some water from the kids' drink bottle. After I wipe I tuck it inside the nappy and either throw it in the bucket (home) or in the wet bag (out). |

Like Emma- I also use the old Huggies container. I half fill with warm water- dissolve 3 washy wafers in there and then put enough cloth wipes in (folded in half) to absorb all of the mositure. The container sits next to my change table (up high) and wipes are ready to go this way for at home use, or in a travel wipe pack in the nappy bag :-))

Not a sily question at all
Do you have access to a sewing machine Bianca? I sewed my own wipes using Kirsty's wipes pattern- http://www.vk6ksj.net/klgallery/album05 it was easy peasy and they look really lovely. I made my wipes 20x20cm square like the huggies ones are, and they are made from 2 layers of flannel. I have a few terry sided ones for when the poo gets bad.. yet to use those though I keep all of mine dry in a Huggies container and wet them before each use. Connor seem to get irritated by soaps & shampoos so I just wet mine with plain water. I bought a packet of 3 squirty sauce bottles from the $2 shop to keep water in and I have them conveniently stashed around the house (out of toddler reach) for easy access when needed. We have a few stashed in little travel wipes containers too- those ones are kept wet and replaced when needed.

I have a squeezy tomato sauce bottle with water in it on my change table (one that I bought, not one that originally had tomato sauce in it
). Though I regularly grab a wipe and run it under the tap on the way past.
