We all suffer from excema here and I agree with the pp's that moogoo and oat baths are a fantastic combination.

Susannah, those oats are fine. I put them in a bit of muslin or a clean stocking and then tie a knot in it. E & T love to play with it and squeeze the oatey (sp) water into the bath. It really gives them a lot of relief.

My 4 month old boy has jsut started to develop excema on his torso. I am using sweet almond oil on him after the bath with nothing in the bath but water.

I'm not sure if it is excema or heat, but the CHN seems to think its more like excema. I'm dressing him a bit lighter and keeping up with the almond oil. I might reduce the ammount of powder I use to wash his clothes....hmm but nothing on the bot and I'm using cloth all day, so it may not be that.

I spoke to my mum today and apparently my brother had excema when he was Lewis' age...and ended up with severe asthma!!!!! Thats scary!

Oooh jsut found out that moogoo is available in heaps of places in WA...even out here in the desert!

My DS has excema & i bought Moogoo but it didn't work for him. Maybe it was too light for my DS coz a few days after that his skin was soo dry it looked my cracked burnt patches all over his hands & body. I'm back to using Dermaveen.

I just typed a big long post up and seem to have lost it now . Anyway I was just thanking everyone for their suggestions. I am going to try Eilleen's suggestion of the dermaveen oat bath first as we have had good success with dermaveen (on her little sister) in the past.

It was interesting someone mentioned pull-ups. Sienna was using pull-ups as a night time back-up when we were recently in HongKong. Her little sister was using all of our inserts in pockets so we left Sienna's yoyo nappy at home. Maybe the pull-ups dried her skin out or something?

Also someone else mentioned fleece. I don't think it would be fleece as when she was a bub she always had fleece liners with no problems. Also her night nappy (the yoyo) is also fleece and hasn't been a problem in the past.

Anyway I am also taking her back to the Drs this week so hopefully we can get this cleared up. (And I have washed all of her underwear in a sensitive liquid).

Also, Rascal, I am wondering about the chemical on the toilet seat thing. The rash is in a circle around her bottom similiar to wear contact from the seat would be. Sort more around the outer cheeks, rather than inside. I think I'll try a more friendly toilet cleaner (well, DH is my toilet cleaner and he is very friendly, but ykwim!)

i find moogoo great for maintenance but not treatment. we are using jurlique baby soothing balm atm with great success instead of cortisone cream for the excema on their face (all red and cracked like you're describing)
