Default Excema Help

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has any natural excema remedies they could share. Sienna (who is not in nappies) has developed excema on her buttock cheeks. Its not related to toileting, but further around the outer sides of her bottom. We have been to the GP who has prescribed an ointment but it doesn't really seem to be clearing it up.

Any ideas/suggestions?

thanks in advance,
Leanne

Hi Leanne, my daughter has excema too. A lot goes down on the nappy area and legs and we used to think it's just normal thrush/nappy rash. I found that none of the chemist stuff really helped us. There's a cream called udder cream which doesn't have cortisone and mineral oil. If you want more details, feel free to PM me. I'm not sure if I can post a website of this product it works brilliantly with us.

using oatmeal tied in a hanky in the bath to wash with
using moogoo products - we use the soaps and udder creams
also the beauty and the bees botty butter is great

Dunno about creams but excema often appears in areas with friction on them, so maybe try wearing skirts instead of pants?Or different undies - cotton/polyester or whatever?

Thanks for those suggestions. I already do use the dermaveen excema cream. I am interested in finding out more about the udder cream. Can someone tell me more about it?
The only thing other thing the GP has suggested is washing her underwear in a gentler washing powder. Has anyone had any success with this? (I'm hesitant to buy some if it doesn't work).

The poor little thing is getting quite sensitive about it now. She has said she is the only person with a spotty bottom and is sure that it wasn't there when she was 1 (she's 3 now and it has only appeared in the last few months).

Oh and skirts - Sienna lives in skirts! It is so cold here though that she has to wear stockings as well, so I guess that would cancel out the benefits suggested.

Leanne, I find that washing in a gentler washing powder only helps a bit. We already use Omo sensitive, then switched to Amolin, Earth Choice and Lux flake. I think it's the amount you use and how many times you do the rinse makes difference. Now i'm back with Omo and use half of amount they recommend, then do a double rinse until the water is clear.

We have tried Dermaveen but it flares up even more, the medihoney which doesn't work at all. Sorbolean is good but in our case nothing is as effective as the udder cream made by moogoo. Try www.moogoo.com.au (mod, is it ok i posted the link here?)

Hi Leanne

It sounds like what my 3 year old has I just put what she has down to nappy rash as she is still in nappies of a night. I have just been using some sorbelene and tried a couple of other creams but none have cleared it up. I might try changing my washing powder for her stuff.

Sorry I am not much help.
