oooh Bec, that doctor really sounds like he has not treated you well at all! ((((hugs))))
Go with your gut on this and if you are not happy then get a second opinion! It sounds as if the doctor was inferring that something had "happened" to gracie in order for her to be infected (am I right in assuming this is what he meant?) but I really don't think he should have even mentioned such a thing until the results were back! of course he has to act in bubby's best interests but your mum might be right and it could very well be a nasty rash and not herpes at all! I'm sorry you have to go through this and I hope Gracie heals quickly and it all turns out to be harmless, try not to stress yourself out...sometimes our "research" on the internet can actually be unhelpful! (also sorry I'm not much more help...maybe someone else has more knowledge on such things!) Marnie

Hi Bec,
Just a quick one, but one of my girlfriends got genital herpes a couple of years ago. She had only had one partner who did NOT have it, so to this day, she has no clue how she got it. Probably not much help, but just wanted to let you know that mysterious things do happen. I hope the Dr is wrong and Gracie just has a bad rash or something Cheers, K |

That's not the first time I have read this here. I think I similat thing happened to Brooke (http://www.nappycino.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=7801) so if you're not happy with the treatment you're getting from your Dr, you might want to consider a second opinion. You don't need to be treated like that! It could easily be a bacterial infection, espceially if the skin was broken. Might just be staph or something.
(((hugs))) to you. Don't feel bad. Littlies get sick and we can't prevent it. I hope she feels better soon and I hope you're ok. I have a Dr who is really good with kids, so if you want a second opinion I would highly recommend her. Take care and I'll keep you some cake

Thanks guys.
The doctor did say - now you know we have to test for HSV1 and HSV2 and he went on to say it is very rare for HSV1 to be in the genital area and rare for it to be passed from cold sores etc etc - that is when I asked him what else we could do and he said we need to wait for the test results and have a good talk then. Googling is definatley not a good thing to do in this situation I haven't been to this doctor before as my usual lovely Dr wasn't available to see Gracie then. Maybe, if this rash hasn't cleared up by Monday, I will see if my usual doctor is available for a quick talk. Although by the looks of it is will be cleared up by then. I should probably bide my time for the results to come through. Thanks so much for the offer though Susannah of the contact and have a fantastic day tomorrow! Hopefully the sun will be shining. Grrr! Bec.

ETA, even if it *is*, there could be a perfectly innocent explanation... you know?
(I know it's hard not to think of all the zillion possibilities) |

Oh Bec i would go for a second opinion for you peace of mind, it could just be a infection rather than herpes. They always do thing like this as routine, i been through something like this a few months ago, and started thing well DP but in fact it was neg and was just what they had to do. Yes it scared the C*rap out of you, they should explain themselves more as they never do, and leaves as thinking.
Googling yes bad bad thing i do it also and make my self even sicker, we can't it we want to find the answers asap, well i do. Sorry rambling on like always, ((HUGS )) to you, do hope Monday comes quickly for you, iam also waiting results so know the feeling. Take care good luck Kristie

HUGE hugs to you. Sometimes you wonder if some doctors missed the 'good bedside manner' lecture at uni hey? Seconding everything everyone else has said about getting a second opinion. I hope Monday comes quickly.

Oh Bec *hugs* sounds like another inconsiderate doctor!! GGRRRR!! sometimes they really don't have any sensitivity, i'd go and see your normal doctor on Monday and be rest assured that it is probably a bad nappy rash, particularly if it is clearing up already.
Had she (or you) had anything citrussy like pineapple juice. That gave Lily the worst nappy rash
