Exclamation Buy For Baby Help - Read this first!

Please read this if you have a Buy For Baby issue, or a Help Desk issue.

Firstly, please please when you are submitting a support ticket, include all the information that we need to resolve the issue. If you have a problem with a buyer or a seller, we need the username of this person and the auction IDs that are involved. Include as many details as you can to save us all time and effort, and get your issue resolved quickly.

Secondly, there have been a number of complaints lately about non-paying bidders. Sellers, please do us all a favour and leave negative feedback for these people who are wasting everyone else's time.

Thirdly, as per the other post concerning this, please do not publicly post about problems that you have had with a buyer or a seller. PM me or submit a support ticket.

I'm also getting the same questions over and over and usually they are easily resolved by you!

Q: Why won't the help desk accept my username and password?
A: The help desk is a completely different system to the Buy For Baby one, you cannot log into the help desk with your Buy For Baby username and password, you must follow the Submit a new ticket link and create an account if you have never submitted a ticket before.

Q: Why is my Buy For Baby account suspended, I don't think I did anything wrong!?
A: Buy For Baby has recently undergone a few changes and updates. Admin asked that all fees be paid before the site was reopened, all accounts that weren't paid by then were automatically suspended.

Q: How do I pay for an item that I've won?
A: You can pay using whatever method is listed in the auction listing that you won. If you are paying by bank deposit then the seller should send you their bank details, otherwise you can follow the links to automatically pay with paypal (if they offer that option). If you click on the "Items I've won" link in the left side menu, then it will take you to the details of the items you have won, and then the "message board" link will take you to the message board (where buyers and sellers contact each other).

Q: I signed up but still can't log in to Buy For Baby, why haven't I received a confirmation email?
A: You will need to check your junk mail box and ensure that you have allowed emails from siteadmin@buyforbaby.com.au as a lot of free email accounts delete automated emails from most sites.

Q: I don't have a Paypal account, is there any other way to pay the fees?
A: Fees can be paid by Direct Deposit or Paypal. Invoices are sent out at the beginning of each month with payment details for Direct Deposit.

Q: I included a photo with my auction, but now it's not there in the active listing, what happened?
A: The software will only accept photos less than 100kb in size. Please contact me if you need help resizing your images.

Q: When do I have to pay my account?
A: Your account is automatically frozen when your account balance reaches $10.00. You will need to clear your account balance in order to login to your members area again. If your account balance is less than $10 but greater than $3.00 then you will be sent an invoice around the first day of the month. You will need to make payment by PayPal or Direct Deposit in order to prevent your account being suspended.

Q: I haven't received the goods I paid for, what can I do?
A: If a seller has failed to deliver goods you can submit an abuse report with the transaction details and the members account may be suspended depending on the circumstances. We HIGHLY recommend that you request registered and insured postage so your goods are trackable. In the unfortunate even that a member has acted fraudulently, you will be provided with their contact details so that you may contact the appropriate authorities.

Q: How do I relist an item?
A: From the Members Area:
* Click Closed Auctions
* Locate the item you want to relist and click the Tick Box under the Relist Column
* Select the length of time you want to relist for from the drop down box and click Proceed
Q: How do I know what the balance of my account is?
A: You can find out how much you owe in fees by selecting "Manage My Account" under the "My Account" heading in the left side menu.

Q: How do I contact another Buy For Baby user?
A: Direct contacting has been disabled for the safety of all users. You can only contact those users who you have bought from or sold to.
You can however ask a question about an item using the "Ask Seller a Question" box in an open listing.

Ok that's all I have in my brain for now... will add more later (and thanks Jo, I copied a couple of your FAQs )
would love if a mod could sticky this too

Lis, I was wondering if I can use buy for baby if I only have a hotmail address. I've tried to register but it comes up with a fault due to my e-mail address. My hotmail address is the only one I use, as the one that came with the internet package is faulty... very long story, but if I open Outlook my whole computer needs to be shut down.
Not sure this is the right place to post my question, but I would appreciate some help with this issue.
Kind Regards
Belinda

Hi Belinda,

We have free email accounts disabled, for a few reasons. One is that a lot of those accounts tend to class the registration email as junk and either delete it, or put it in the junk mail folder, which means a lot of people miss it. We have also disabled them due to a number of users creating fake accounts and using them for malicious purposes.

Can you access your ISP email from a webmail account? Most ISPs have a place on their website where you can log in and view emails, if you don't have access to your computer etc.. You can also use a website such as this one mail2web.com - Pick Up Your Email to view emails on the internet without a program such as outlook.

Let me know if you need anymore help, or just submit a help desk ticket, link is under my name

nope not anymore.
in order to keep the scammers out we've had to disable them atm... until we find a better solution.

forgot to add: we can make special exceptions for users if they have no other option, but you need to negotiate that with us
