Default Best way to store nappies longterm.

Given that Lily has worn three nappies in the last week (she only wears nappies out of the house, although i have sent her out with DH without a nappy ), i guess it's time to think about what to do with the excess of the stash.
I've decided to sell some but as we are planning on having another baby (hopefully) i do want to keep some of the very special ones, and ones i just can't part with. i think it's probably also best to keep some night nappies in case she does regress and need night nappies again sometime in the future and there's no way in hell, you'll ever see our butterfly appliqued bamboo honeyboy for sale.

So how do I best store nappies for say 12 months?
Am i dreaming to think the elastic won't go?
how can I prepare them for storage to minimise this possibilty?

Hey Tikki,

This is from my heirloom sewing/smocking background, but I can't see why it wouldn't apply here.

Wash them, making sure they are rinsed very well to ensure that there are no stains, residue of detergent and the like - they are bad for long term storage.
Store in something breathable - not plastic storage crates - causes them to sweat But large boxes, somewhere cool and dry, wrapped in acid free tissue and something to keep the bugs away - we use lavender (but make sure it doesn't touch the fabric).

And there is no sure fire guarantee that the elastic won't perish. I have a baby garment with shirring elastic that I made for my sister 8 years ago, and though it does still have some stretch it's gone a bit limp But that's a fairly long time to store something.

HTHs

You can also wash them every few months which (I've been told) moisturises the elastic. I don't know if this is true though.

She's still wearing a couple, she's not quite there yet, just not the volume we were going through previously. Just not ready to trust her out and needing to poo

If you ask Lily she'll tell you mummy's having a girl baby we're not pregnant though, we've been reading Daddy's Having a Horse

LOL Tikki, Abbey still think she's getting a baby brother, she doesn't quite understand that daddy is having a vasectomy and there will be no more babies, especially when I've explained that when mummies bleed it means there bodies can have babies !
