Now that's interesting I use TTO and my DH was complaining that Liam's nappies still smell, so just normal pineoclean (there is only one type isn't there LOL?). Sorry if it sounds stupid that I want to clarify this, but I am coming up with the same issues and I would like to recify it, since my DH said tonight "You have to change what you wash these with, they stink...." mind you it did not smell THAT bad, he was just being extra fussy LOL!

its the general purpose pineocleen (i used the original scent) - not sure of theres other types - maybe a floor cleaner too, but obviously dont use that, lol. Yeah I was surprised when Aunty Sharon suggested using it cause it just seemed like a cleaning fluid type thing to me, but I thought what they hey, give it a go. I did use a bit more of the pineocleen than the TTO mind you, but they definatley came out smelling better - and so far the stinky smell hasnt returned (theyve been on line 24 hours, but I still havnt brought them in yet
lazy me, lol)

TTO probably wont remove the smell, its more of an antispetic type product, but I did recently find out that its a sensitiser, which means that people can build up intolerances to it and it may react to their skin.

following on from fiona - with the redness hunter has been getting i'd steer away from tto oil together - have you tried washing them a few times in hot with NO detergent?
hugs karen

What's your washing regime Tina? I would steer away from TTO too with Hunter's sensitivities.
Perhaps the stink is due to build-up?? Another thing I've done is cold pre-rinse, then a hot soak overnight then a hot wash with a little bit of dettol (a splash really) in the rinse cycle. (My machine does this automatically). |

Hmmm, ok.
I don't want to use pineoclean, just sounds bad for his skin ![]() I ended up putting a few drops of eucalyptus in before I read this thread ![]() I did do another rinse afterwards though, so hopefully he will be ok ![]() My wash has always worked great in the past. Quick Cold wash first with no detergent. Hot wash with half a scoop of sensitive powder. Extra rinse cycle at the end, sometimes with a cap of dettol/dettol wash left to soak for a while in it. He just keeps pooing in his night nappies, and they stink ![]() Although, the past 2 days, I've managed to strip him before he poo's in them. Might have to just keep doing that. -Tina

I also used eucalyptus, but again, the nappies stink returns when they dry.
I understand Tina that you dont want to use pineocleen - I certainly had my reservations at first, but I only use a bit and it works far better than anything else. (Also I have bad skin reactions to both TTO and Eucalyptus which I dont get with Pinocleen). |
