I use Softly [supermarket brand] to wash ALL my woollies with ... not just the soakers related stuff but everything that is knitted ... wool or acrylic.

Softly has never caused me any concern with running or bleeding of colours in the 30 odd years of using this product. I have tried others along the way but have always returned to Softly ... it is the only wool wash I will use now.

The wool yarns I use [unless stated specifically] are well-known commercial brands ... ie Cleckheaton; Patons; Bendigo Wools; Wangaratta Wools etc ... and I have had this bleeding problem only on those garments needing to be lanolising ... AND it has happened to all colours not just the reds or blues or purples .... but greens; yellows and lots of other pale colours.

For all other garments NOT requiring lanolising ... this is not an issue.

I have used Dylon Colour Seal on all items that are to be lanolised ... it is working ... BUT this is not solving the problem at the source. In saying that I am helping MrsBlud [Julie] out with various testing with different lanolin products and different wools ... both commercial and WAHM dyed ... in order to find out which scents are causing the problems.

Also if any of my customers are reading this AND are having problems ... please contact me ... thanks

Our Sheepish Grins Vanilla Hazelnut spray lanolin isnt too fond of coming into contact with dark pink wool/angora blend

I use Sheepish Grins Green Tea spray and the only problems I've had are on first & second wash of hand-dyed woolies, probably just excess colour. (I use Earth's Choice wool wash, just from Coles, no lanolin in it.)

We use the "palm island" sheepish grins spray on our three wool covers (sugar peas) and I've noticed a little tint of colour to the water when we wash them, but the colour has never run onto clothes at all even when he's peed up a storm and quite soaked the cover and clothes!

Not what you mentioned, but I did have colour come out of my wooly tree punk soaker when I last used a woolbuddy.
Oh, come to think of it, there was a bit of the pure lanolin stuff in there too. (I think it was northern essence - vanilla something? )

Keep it coming girls. We actually think now it may not be the essential oil/fragrant oil but it maybe an ingredient in the soaps/washes as nobody has every had any real probs with the spray's or liquid lanolin.
