Default TT/velcro in a top loader

Hiya, hope I've got this in the right place.
Is there a way to reduce the impact of a top loading washing machine on mcn's with tt/velcro?
I've noticed with my BG pockets that once they've gone through the wash, even on a gentle cycle, some of the velcro is sticking to other parts of the nappy rather than the little tabs and those areas are starting to wear despite only being a couple of months old. I'm guessing this is because top loaders are so rough and the velcro is just becoming unstuck through the cycles. Has anyone else found the same thing?
I really like the velcro and was looking at GK's, but now I'm thinking that if the machine is going to do that to them I'm better off with snaps to get more life out of my nappies.
Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Thanks

I haven't had that experience with my top loader but I don;t have any bumgenious nappies. So the foldback tabs are coming apart in the wash? A big paper clip to hold them down?

You could always put that pariticular nappy in a wash bag.

I am forever forgetting to put the wash tabs down so it always gets stuck here. You could always do the nappy up and then wash

I have a top loader and haven't had any problems with my tt nappies (I mainly have snaps though). Try a washing bag (like the ones you use for stockings and bras).

I haven't had any problems either but when I have 'special' nappies to wash I put them on a warm heavy duty delicates wash so it doesn't bash them around as much

Thanks for the replies
Not all the foldback tabs come off during the wash, but at least two nappies usually do. You've got me wondering if maybe it's the particular nappy though??????
I'll have a go at the wash bag and try doing them up before I put them through the wash if that fails. I'm thinking I would need to turn them inside out though to wash properly?? Hmmm...
I like the idea of doing them up with the paper clips though!

Most of my stash is BG Pockets and I have no probs with them in a top loader. I do find though that I need to apply a bit of pressure when attaching the tape to the tabs or it doesn't attach quite so securely. Maybe that's what's going on with yours and so they are working loose in the wash.

Hmmm, considering I don't apply much pressure, maybe it is that simple. I usually just stick them on, but don't so much apply a lot of pressure to do so. Will give it a go, thanks
