Hi girls

My mcn's are stinky!!!! They don't stink of wee or poo, but they have a horrible smell to them. Its just happened all of a sudden.

I was in cold water, but do a hot wash once a week, Ive started putting some vinegar in my hot wash.

Do you mean they started to smell after you started using vinegar? I think I read somewhere that vinegar can make hemp stinky sometimes.

Also, just checking whether your little one has been sick at all? When DS had a bout of gastro, one of the pooey nappies (rinsed of course) made the entire washing load smell absolutely rank, almost like burnt rubber!! This was after they were washed and dried and everything. Yuck.

So, perhaps you could try a strip wash (do a search on nappycino for how to), otherwise, not sure?

Ours got a tad smelly for a bit, but we add some bicarb to the pre-wash cycle now and it seems to have cleared up the problem. Even the washing machine had been stinky but that's gone away too!

I was having a wee smell problem, which I solved by rinsing everything straight away. But on the journey I tried Eucalyptus oil in the wash, it also worked. I can't see that it would be a problem and it is anti-bacterial.

My nappies don't stink too bad till the kids wee in them then they stink like a wet hemp smell - mixed with urine!!!!

When we went through the stinky nappy problem I added a capful of eucalyptus oil to the final rinse (I always do 2 final rinses) or a cap of dettol. It really helps with the smell, also, if possible hang thenm out in the sun all day. It may take a couple of washes, but it will go away.
