Default Washing nappies in front loader using powder

Hello Ladies

Help!

I have a front loader washing machine and until now have used Amolin detergent for my MCNs, but today I switched to 7th Generation powder as recomended by the online store I have just bought some new nappies from.

The box of 7th Generation doesn't say if it is or is not suitable for a front loader so I had to assume that it was ok - anyone know?

I couldn't add the powder as the machine was filling with water (because its a front loader, not a top loader), so I put it in the detergent drawer and started the wash cycle.

The machine is now finished and the powder remains in the detergent drawer! So I haven’t actually washed my nappies at all, just very thoroughly rinsed them!

What can other people suggest for a front loader machine? Should I dissolve the powder in warm water first in a separate cup, and then pour that over the nappies before I shut the door and start the machine in the first place? Is there a better option for a front loader machine? I want to make sure I am doing the very best possible thing to care for my nappies.

Many thanks
Lou

Not sure there Lou...
I use a powder in my front loading machine everyday...
Occasionally if the kids don't push the draw in properly there will be some left but not often.
I use a couple of tablespoons worth maximum but I can't see why you couldn't dissolve it in some warm water first if that works with your machine.

or you could throw it in with the clothing or nappies.

are there several little drawers you could potentially put washing powder in?

our machine has three little trays

one for pre-wash powder
one for fabric condition
the big one for the main wash powder

the machine only uses the one you program it to use.

so on our machine for example, if i put some powder in the fabric conditioner tray, and set the machine to BABY CYCLE - the machine would activate teh prewash and the wash trays to be used, but leave the fabric conditioner tray alone.

so just a wild guess here, but make sure you are using the right tray for the powder.

i put a teaspoon of powder in the pre-wash tray
two tablespoons of powder in the wash tray
the trays are not labelled, it took me a while to remember which was which and get used to it.

i may be totally barking up the wrong tree, just a wild guess!

Have you asked where you bought 7th Gen powder from, if it's for front or top loading machine?

You mention that the machine was filling with water so you added it to the drawer. Was it already full of water before you put it in the drawer? They normally fill via the drawer so wash it into the machine as it's filling. If you put it in the drawer after it was full you were too late!

We always use powder here (Aware Sensitive) and never had any issues.
