The Lucas brand one in the red jar is petroleum based but the Simmons Yellow label one isn't.

I agree, we never had any trouble cleaning meconium off their bottom.

we always just stuck his bum under the tap to wash him off, and found that was much easier than scrubbing with wipes like we'd done with the older kids!
terry facewashers are nice and 'grippy' which helps get it all off, and the extra warm water under the tap as opposed to just a wet wipe gets it all off double quick, and you don't end up with as much stuck to the wipe then either.

i had no probs with mec sticking to anything, bum/wipe or nappy i use plain water, no creams.
