Default Help fixing Itti D'lish Elastic

Hi Mamas, I received 2 D'lish in a trade and there is not much stretch along the back and perhaps 50% or less in the legs, I know it's going to be tricky trying to repair them given that some of the snaps are placed after construction is completed, so they can not be turned inside out, but if anyone has done it before I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

I'm not sure that you could replace the elastic without compromising the nappy's waterproof outer layer... since you would effectively be sewing through it.
there are a few tutorials around but most are for serged/overlocked nappies

That was my concern. I've done it with overlocked fitteds and Bum Genius, but couldn't figure out a way to get into the Itti IYKWIM...

I'm thinking I will unpick the seam on the wing as close to the snaps as possible, just enough to turn it inside out and then turn and top stitch it and see how I go. It is useless as is so I can't really make it any worse.

Any other suggestions before I take the plunge, it is a PUL snap in btw.

Ask the maker if they will do it for you?
