    Default Lanolising your woolies

As I'm currently knitting my first pair of shorties, I was wondering what you use to lanolise your woollen stuff? I've seen stuff to soak in, & also a spray...I imagine it's more thorough to soak, but quicker & easier to spray...
Also, how often do you do it? Regularly or as needed?
And would I need to do it with my shorties before we use them, or wait & see?
As for washing them, can you do it in the machine? I normally use Ecostore powder, would that be suitable?
Sorry about all the questions, I've just never used wool before!

I'm no expert - but with my woolies, I wash them when they are getting a bit reeky!!!! So it depends on how much peeing they have done (or if I've had a poosplosion!!) and then I just throw them in the washing machine on the wool cycle and use wool wash.

Then I put them in the laundry tub filled with quite warm water with lansinoh (sp?) ointment in there. I use about a pea sized amount of it, and dissolve it in the water, then add the woolies. Soak for half an hour, wring out, and let dry.

    Thats it.

I would do them anyway - better to be safe than sorry!

I use lansinoh too. I dissolve a very small amount in some hot water in a bucket and then I top up the bucket with water until it's lukewarm. I usually only soak for about 30min you can leave them overnight but I did that once with a few different coloured soakers and my yellow soakers turned green!

As long as the wool isn't dirty, I usually wash and lanolise about once a fortnight, and I air them out on the line regularly.

I would do the shorties before you use them. Then their done!

I sometimes machine wash on a wool wash cycle and I sometimes handwash, I use a wool detergent, I think it's earth's choice.

I love woolies, my mum knits them for me, I really need to learn to knit.

I just pop them in the machine on the wool cycle with a few drops of wool wash. To lanolise I use the solid lanolin from the health food shop (I think it works out slightly cheaper than lansinoh), a pea size drop is good and a drop of baby shampoo in hot water. The shampoo helps the lanolin disolve. Then I pour this into the sink with lukewarm water & pop the woolies in overnight. In the morning I wring them out in a towel & hang on the line. Good luck!

I put way too much lanosol in my hot water last time I did my outer and now it makes my hands all 'oily' every time I touch it.
I guess I might need to wash it again and start all over

I hand wash in a lanolin rich wool wash
and the soak in lanisoh as needed (which isn't that often)
I also have the spray for a quick freshen up

i'm a bit of a wool wash nut - i have tried just about everything

i would wash them when you knit them - then they are ready to go
