Unhappy aaahhh I bleached my wild childs!!!!

Just this week I have been noticing little holes appearing in the bamboo boosters of my WCDN and Igloo has been chewing like mad on everything so I am figuring toxic teething wee.

So what do I do, well I think hmm I cannot wash everyday, and soon I will HAVE to turn the machine on at night not the morning. So how about I put them in a bucket of water to help dilute the wee.

Well wee, water and blue nappy = wee, water and almost white nappy by the end of the day

ahhh what am I going to do. Will just have to live with white nappy, but can I fix the holes? and how do I stop this happening????? I really really really dont want these nappies to fall apart, I have no other night nappies to use in the meantime as only WCDN manage to contain all his wee.

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no! What about just rinsing the nappy, not soaking it?
I would try strip washing, as there may be residual bacteria in the nappies - I had a similar problem awhile ago - my nappies were actually going slimy, and the bamboo was getting thinned out and holey.

a good spin in the dryer should offer the same thing right?

cause a strip wash needs hot water? I dont have hot water hooked up to my machine nor can I. Only one water outlet so I can either have hot or cold not both, machine runs fine on just cold but dont think it will run fine on just hot.

My machines hot wash is only hot water so maybe it would be fine on hot for one wash
Drier wont do the same thing as a strip wash, no.
I second the hot wash. Also wet pailing or rinsing a lot before dry pailing if you cant wash every day. Just until the teething wee goes away.

    Oh tracey!

I didn't have hot water at my machine either (thankfully now my front loader heats the water) I use to fill up the bath as hot as I wanted it & would doa stomp strip wash LOL, so I would toss all my boosters in & stomp on them in the hot water then let them sit for a bit in the hot water then take them down & wash as normal. Not the best way but it seemed to help.

wow the wee bleached the nappy that's some pretty hardcore wee!

I only use procion dyes with all my dying which forms a permanent covalent bond with the molecules in the fabric, so it must be lethal......

I don't know if it helps, but Alastair's lotus night nappies are our absolute faves and they've had holes in the boosters for yonks! I figured it was due to stinky toddler night wee (I never rinsed them, and when I only had him in nappies, was going a few days between washes), but as long as I didn't want to sell them it wasn't a disaster. They're now getting holes in the outer shell too, and the boosters have HEAPS of holes, but they still work wonderfully!

Oh, if you have a dishwasher, apparently you can do a strip wash in there.

Thats what I thought too, what on earth is in my childs wee!!

There is still some dye left, the darker bits have some dye left, the lighter bits went white. Had no fading up will now, so I know your dyes are good and strong. We just have some mega lethal wee here.

oh dear! that would make me sad. i would suggest rinsing nappies and then dry pailing them.
and a strip wash sounds essential too even if you do it like fiona suggested and fll the bath with hot water and do it that way (or laundry tub if you have a decent one) . we've been lucky here and havent had too many things eaten by wee, tho a couple of our old bubblebubs when the inner finally died you could see the boosters had holes. i would be rinsing each nappy before putting it in the nappy bucket if it were me.
hugs i would be sad about the dye coming out of a cool nappy esp if it was a fave.

also we wash 1st thing in the morning as soon as night nappy comes off, we wash every other day here but if you have a good washing machine can you set it to do a small load? then wash every day. I know with meg being older we dont have as many nappies to wash each day so we dont bother but you may find you can get away with a 1/2 load every day might save some of your nappies .
