i have noticed a few threads in regards to elastic going in nappies.
but reading them hasnt really help my problem....
i have about 4 2nd hand Bum Genis, small AIOs and they would have to be some of my favarite naps. but the elastic has gone in the legs.
i am very new to sewing, and have no idea how i can fix them without recking them. i under stand about replacing the elastic but how to i get to it with out recking the nappy?
can someone give me some ideas on how they can be fixed????
please
I'm not much of a sewer either but I managed. Look at where the ends of the elastics are. I unpicked fboth ends then turned nappy inside out. Unpick until you can see elastic. All I did then was cut elastic off and sewed new elastic on. Before you cut both ends though, cut one end and safety pin new elastic to old. Pull other end of old elastic to pull new elastic through casing. Once you've sewn each end of new on turn back right way and sew over the top of where you have unpicked.
I hope that makes sense.
I'll never buy these nappies again as apparently they are prone to elastic going.
Ooh, I've done this with my bg aios, ok, I'm lazy though and haven't actually finished, haha! I have a link to the tutorial I used....it's on an American nappy site, so not sure if I can post it here. Here's a link to a blog post, and the tutorial link is in there. Does not require any unpicking, a major bonus in my book! It's not difficult, just a little fiddly. My aios are also 2nd hand, also my fave naps and all lastic gone in the legs too, boo! Unfortunately, I wouldn't get any more of these either.
Hi Zarah
How did you go with fixing your nappies' elastic? If you find you aren't able to do it, we fix elastic, here --> www.babygecko.com.au
It's not that difficult with the BG's actually...the time consuming thing is unpicking then sewing up the 'incision'. Good luck let us know how you got on!!
I did the same with a few that I was given.
it wasn't too hard once I did one and worked out
someone had a link for a tute on it...
