The only thing that got a severe stink out of my nappies was a HOT wash (95 degrees). Strip washing never worked, nor did a 60 degree wash or antibacterial rinses.

Mine come out smelling like new, and I've never damaged them.

Have you checked your washing powder has no enzymes in it? Mine always had a weird smell, until I changed powders.

Smell can be a sign of not enough OR too much detergent so you might need to play around with the amount that you use.

I can't say that it definitely won't, but I have been using cloth for nearly 2 years (many many brands) and I've never ruined one with a regular (every 2-4 week) hotwash.

I always found that hemp seemed to retain that horrible acid wee smell more than bamboo - could just be me though
I used to put a cap full of dettol in the final rinse, or a cap of tea tree oil & found that helped heaps.
I never did a pre rinse, but always did an extra final rinse.

    Strip wash
wash every day (found this was the only thing that keeps htem not smelling, frequent wash and smaller loads)
You can also use bleach with your BGs...which will get rid of the smell

They also reccomend NOT to wash over 60degrees

Do you rinse the nappies before drypailing? I'd be hesitant about washing in really hot water as I've accidentally damaged some elastic by not realising the temp the water was on ... maybe you can just try a few first and see how they go.
