Hi,
I have a dear friend who has a broken washing machine and is needing to buy a new one. I've ever had front loaders and she has only had toploaders.
The thing is that she is wanting to use cloth full time with at least two children and they have 6 atm.
So the question is......whats the best washing machine? All comments please,
cheers

we also have had twin tub, several top loaders and two front loaders (all except for one were s/h or verge finds). Also done flats and MCN.
I still like my front loader. I don't think it's so much about how it washes nappies specifically, more so about how the machine washes in general iykwim
waterwise, energy wise, gentleness on clothes/clean effectiveness etc would be somewhere to start.
Also what suits her personally - for the big top loaders I couldn't reach the bottom of the inner LOL yes I am blunt! The front loaders - will it be 'up' off the floor for less bending (mine isn't but it doesn't bother me) or not. Does she want to hang/stack a dryer above it? Does she want to use the horizontal space on top for a changetable/something else. THose kinds of things. The best machine you can reasonably afford, that's as eco as you can for that money, and that suits your needs. Nappies will just fit in there after that.
We have a 9kg Electrolux front loader, for 6 people, one of those in nappies
when we had two in flats, we had a top loader
I had one in flats for the twin tub.

I'm obsessed with my Miele. It cost a fortune though so I realise that's out of a lot of people's budgets. We brought it pre-children while on two wages so it wasn't hard then, but would be now. It gets everything gloriously clean. You can fill it up to bursting and it still washes everything so well. Even sticky newborn poo needed no rinsing. Everything came out white. My girlfriend just got a fisher and paykel frontloader that is a toploader and she uses cloth nappies. She finds she always has to rinse her nappies clean before putting them in the wash otherwise they come out of the cycle with bits still on them, no matter how many rinses she does.
