Default Strip wash vs regular wash?

Just wondering why it's not recommended to use dishwashing detergent to wash nappies all the time? Surely this would do away with the need to strip wash? Will it damage the fabric? washing machine?

I havent really thought about this but upon a brief ponder I would think it is because dishwashing detergent isnt made to clean fabric, it is used to strip things like oil etc etc. It is effective at removing a laundry detergent buildup but I dont think it would efficiently cleanse the fabric IYKWIM.

Im not sure what you do, but if I do a strip wash I always follow with a normal wash anyway.

Oh and I dont think that dishwashing detergent would be very nice built up on the fibres against babies' skin IYKWIM....
