Default Vinegar or dryer for softening!?

OK, I know this has been discussed a million times but I couldn't find the answer .

I have been a dedicated dryer user (for nappies) because I *hate* crunchy nappies. But given the climate etc I can no longer justify it and have been hanging nappies again the last few days. They are just so scratchy and awful though that I really can't blame my babies for complaining...

I have done the hang then dryer thing before and it really didn't work for me....still crunchy.

HELP!!

mine came in like cardboard yesterday too I threw them in the dryer for 10 minutes and they came out as if they'd been dried fully in the dryer... 10 minutes is better than a whole cycle I guess?

I suffer from crunchy nappy syndrome too thanks to an over-efficient front loader. I spin my nappies on a lower spin cycle and that seems to help a lot. I used to use vinegar when we just used flats but now I'm paranoid it will wreck the elastic. I also run anything that is a bit stiff across the edge of a table and that softens it up. We don't have a dryer but maybe you could just do 5 minutes when you bring them in to soften them up

Try the dryer thing first. Then hang.

i dont use vinegar, im sure it wrecked some elastic here when i did

the trick to putting dry stuff in the dryer to soften up is, make sure you put a few wet wipes or something in there aswell. the moisture helps make them soft, not crunchy

If your dryer has a cold/airing setting that can soften them while using hardly any electricity. Our dyer is outside and in summer the airing setting is sucking in 40 degree air anyway

I find that for decently soft nappies I can't get away with less than an hour in the dryer.
