Angry Smelly Washing

I really dont know what else to do - my washing always smells like wee As in my nappies that is.

I put my washing on a Heavy load (about a 2.5 hour cycle) with a pre-rinse and about 3 rinses at the end. And today, I even put it on an extra hot wash at the end and still . . . everything smells like wee Its really bad if I have to put the washing in the dryer cause it makes the entire house smell.

I dont know what else to do - please help

detergent buildup can cause smells to hang on...id try a wash with a full scoop of powder - then stripwash well....??

oh and is the prewash cold? hot can lock smells in too

I've overcome the stinky nappy syndrome by doing a monthly cold wash in a full scoop of regular powder (ie full of everything we're told not to use on MCN), followed by another full hot cycle without any detergent to rinse. I've been doing that for about 7 months and my nappies never stink and don't look, feel or perform like it's done any damage.

I got rid of smelly nappies by getting rid of synthetics It must be something about our water here? It didn't happen when I was somewhere else.

how annoying for you.
I do the tea tree oil in the final rinse which seems to help. I agree with cas that it could be synthetics, fleece seems to hold on to the stink.
Your boy might be going thru a smelly wee phase too, mine did. It doesn't seem so bad now.
I hope you find a solution.

bicarb i find works well too ( have started using this myself) 1/2 cup to cold rinse

Pre-rince is warm - 30C. Have tried the tea tree in the final rince but it just seems to mask it. Might try a full scoop of washing powder followed by an additional hot wash

I was just going to say a cold prerinse might help. And yeah, it could be a smelly wee phase....Maybe cold rinse each nappy before bucketing? Good luck!
