Default Washing Question

Ok when I wash the nappies I usually do a pre-rinse then normal wash. Sometimes I do an extra rinse at the end but not that often.

I have noticed the nappies are smelling a bit lately and am attributing this to either detergent build-up or teething wees.

My query is - how do you wash? If I want to save water and do only one rinse - it is better to do a pre-rinse or an extra rinse at the end?

Thanks

I do a cold pre-rinse and full wash cycle with half dose of 'sensitive' powder every second day.
Once a month I do a long cycle, cold wash with a full dose of regular powder (currently BioZet...tisk tisk) then a full cycle in hot water with no detergent. Since I started doing that about 7 or 8 months ago I've never had a smelly nappy and they all still look almost new.

I do a pre rinse with some detol sanitiser in, then a wash with hlaf detergent, and an extra rinse just to make sure everything is washed out. We have a front loder and its good on water.
No hot wash ever here-we have no hot water connected to the machine.
I was having smelly nappys even with the 2 rinses which is when I tried the detol and it works really well. (just a small amt-half a cap)

I think it's wasteful to use extra rinse cycles... but that's just me.
I do usually use the "rinse +" function on my washing machine which makes the rinse cycle a bit longer and adds a bit of extra water to the rinse.
Nappies really only need a little bit of detergent, so they don't need the extra rinse generally for that... and they are just going back on your baby's bum, not being used as serviettes, ... so I don't think extra rinses because of the "poo" factor is really necessary either.

The sun will get rid of the rest .... (that is if you have sun... we haven't seen it in a few days )

I pre-rinse in cold and then a normal hot wash... sometimes a cold wash if there aren't that many nappies or I am sure they are going to get sun. If I don't it's smell city. Sometimes if it's a big load the bamboo night nappies still come out smelly and they have to be re-washed.
