I was married at 21 had Elijah at 22 a week after our 1st wedding anniversary and had Kaeden at 24. Have just turned 25

Got pregnant at 19 and had Taylor at 20 - she was 8 months old at my 21st

Was 23 when I got pregnant with James and 24 when I had him. Will be 26 for the next one (not in the works yet)

You're lucky, my Jess is an absolute smartass but I wouldn't have that any other way either she's my best friend and my first baby girl. I still remember changing her cloth nappies 15 years ago time really flies!

Yes, for instance you can get pre-eclampsia/ eclampsia in a first pregnancy but it is really rare in subsequent ones EXCEPT if there is a different father. To avoid having to ask the question, they screen everybody's urine, check everyone's blood pressure. Also paternity is about 80% - ie 20% of people who think they are the father in Aus are not so they check everybody for that reason too.

Others may ask because they want to see if the mother seems to be currently in a stable relationship, and find out what support they have and what support may be necessary for the family.

Some health professionals may ask because they are nosey and/or judgemental of course.

It is a tough call I think to ask that question, but the reasons people ask are not always dodgy.
