I'm pretty good at formulating search terms to find something obscure on Google. I have a couple of friends who've started referring their fruitless searches to me... now to find a way to make some WAHM money out of it!

I also got the knack of swirling cold process soap pretty fast, a lot of people have trouble with it. Possibly more by good teachers (and research, again) than by natural talent.

Can't juggle. Or whistle. Nope, not one bit.

My only talent which isn't very spectacular is folding napkins into origami type shapes that you see in chinese restuarants, after years of doing it for work. If you count being able to serve a 6 course dinner at sea on ship in very rough weather a talent then I can do that to can't always promise that your wine will stay in your glass.

I'm very good at speaking to and relating to teenagers without them feeling like I'm speaking down to them. It helps as I'm a secondary teacher(music)

I found it simultaneously the most rewarding and most trying part of teaching. MOre often rewarding though thank goodness. *sigh* I miss teaching - might go back part-time soon.

Also - big claps for all the muso's here! Lori - that's pretty awesome that you could pick up the oboe again after many years and just play . . . hats off to you!

That's awesome! I've always wondered what it's like to eat on a ship during rough weather. Only ever been on big ferries - never on a cruise ship or the like.

An odd/ obscure one that is going to be hard/wordy to explain: My Mum is deaf and needs to see your lips to follow what you're saying. The nuances of dealing with that, like swapping seats or moving blinds when she comes in the room so the light is on my face not in her eyes, etc, come naturally to me, but are something I find is extremely hard to teach (in my work with deaf/hearing impaired people and their families). An extreme example - my Dad would forget his communication tactics as he got older and sick. I would be up the other end of the house and hear him trying to say something to my mum. From little clues I had heard without trying of what who was doing where in the room, I would KNOW with a certainty that he had not spoken to her face. And I'd run up the hall to tell him "She won't know you said that."

A separate one - I also know quite a bit of Auslan sign language - fairly fluent for a non-native signer. That is more professional than personal as my Mum knows less Auslan than I - she is "oral" (speaks and lipreads).
