We didn't choose the names because of their meanings, but we did check the meanings to see what they were.

Julian - Descended from the Gods (from Julius, the emperor who could trace his lineage back to Venus
Eron - peace and enlightenment (hebrew) Isabel - God has sworn/God is my oath (chosen not for meaning but because it sounded nice - her middle names have more meaning to us but weren't suitable as first names) We see names in our family as kind of like the child's challenge in life, as our lives often contradict the meaning in the name. It seems to fit. Julian has trouble accepting his lack of omnipitence. Eron is a true aries and is too busy most of the time charging about like a ram to practice peace and enlightenment, but theres still time Isabel is too little yet, but she has little chance of being religious in this household. We did choose meanings that were kind of ambiguous for her though, to make things a little easier. Akiko ^_^ |

I love the meaning of names.
Mine means - Great lord or ruler, protector of the sea. As I am often a passionate activist of many causes, it fits. I also kept my brothers in line when growing up...ahem!I was 6-7 weeks pregnant and I just knew I was having a girl. Flicked through the 50,000 Baby's Names from around the World book we had and this name just jumped out at me. I didn't know how to pronounce it but I knew it was DD's name, I also knew the middle name she had to have - it just took some research to find the correct spelling that had the meaning we wanted. DH could not change my mind (apparently you are meant to read further than the 'A' section before deciding on a name...but I couldn't!). 'Aulani - Royal Messenger or Messenger of a Cheif. We pronounce 'Aulani as Awe*Lah*Nee but in Hawaaii (origin) it would be pronounced A*Oo*Law*Nee. Kind of wish we'd stuck with that pronunciation now cos people get just as confused with the phonetical pronunciation. ![]() Jayne - this spelling means Gift from God
