What is the meaning of your childs name?

Amelie means "industrious" , Davina meand "beloved". We dont really look at meanings until after we choose a name

We pronounce 'Aulani as Awe*Lah*Nee but in Hawaaii (origin) it would be pronounced A*Oo*Law*Nee. Kind of wish we'd stuck with that pronunciation now cos people get just as confused with the phonetical pronunciation.

We feel the same about Caragh. It's an Irish name and should be pronounced - Car (as in carrot with the "r" rolled) a (as in above). However, we went with Car (as in the thing that goes broom broom lol) ahhh.

We didn't choose the names because of the meanings either, each of our girls has a name that has a family connection. But I always find it interesting to see if the meanings fit the child. For example, Ava, is yellow bird, basically a canary and as such she's a weedy small child LOL with honey blonde hair! Emelyne our youngest is the industrious warrior and she is the busiest child i've ever seen LOL, also being the youngest she gets rough-housed with pretty badly but she gives as good as she gets!

Cadence is latin and means "with rhythm or melodious" didnt know that until after she was named.

Lucas was a name derived from Luke that traditionally was given to the son of a craftsman or painter.

I am an Artist/Art teacher and we just liked the name. I love the name Jay as it is so simple and just fit properly. Also our surname is unusual so we wanted a strong yet simple first name. Another thing is that being a teacher there are a whole lot of names that you can't use, as you just associate them with kids you have taught

i had this same issue and wanted to give my kids names i hadn't taught before.

tully means peace and is irish. funny cause she came out roaring and is a very busy chatterbox. her middle name lila is after her maternal great grandmother and is hindu meaning dance of god. she is a pretty keen dancer too i haven't come across any girl's called tully...except for a crappy book called tully but the it was the character's nickname and she was a bit of a troubled girl. i have come across a few boys though. i really like that it's a unisex name.

asher is also a unisex name. he was going to be asha rose if a girl. i've always loved the name asher. my fav book as a teenager was "my name is asher lev". the character in the book is a jewish artist, great book.. anyway asher is hebrew for happy and that is exactly what he is a happy little man. his middle name is william and is also his dad's middle name and his great grandad's name.it is german and means constant protector.Tully was also going to be called asher if a girl.

my first baby was called meika. it's dutch for megan.

OOoooH! Funny i post right after you Megsie!! I had yet to came across any other Tully's at all until now! just a few people that say they knew/know of one!

Evie Sage tranlates to 'Life wise'! i knew of the meanings when i add them to the name list, but didn't think of it at the time!
Tully, as mentioned above means Peace/peaceful, and again i didn't really think of it at the time, but he is (mostly) the most peaceful placid child!
His middle name is Banjo, i guess its not really listed anywhere as a name (lol), and it just means the obvious, but i love music and poetry, and i just loved it as a name!

Lily means, well, lily the flower. She is named after mine and andy's maternal grandmothers, Lila and Lillian.

Her second names Jane Rainbow we chose as Jane is my second name, and a girl's name Andy's mum wanted to use except she had six boys Rainbow, we just liked, and it really suits her. I wanted something a bit different but uniquely her

Jane means God is Gracious and Rainbow, well, another obvious one

If she was a boy she would have been Finn, Noah or Toby and her middle name would have been Bilby (that's what we called her inutero as she was due at easter)

Haydn - Fire (welsh), not to be confused with Hayden which is something about fields.

I am not sure what his middlenames mean (Colin Geoffrey), named after his two grandfathers.
