Lana - meaning light (I think its greek origin??)

Amelia - meaning hardworking, although we call her Millie which someone else has posted as meaning strength which I'm pleased about!

Henry Thomas - This was a bad name to choose as it literally means ruler of the household. Anyone who knows my Henry certainly know that he does just that - specially now that the 2yr old tantrums have started.

Bodhi James - Bodhi is a derivative of Boden so his name is substitute herald/messenger.

We did look at meanings of names before they were named, but ultimately it was the sound of the name and we wanted something unique - so we thought. There was s Bodhi James born in Tassie on the same day who was in the that's life mag a while back. I was soo after a one off name but guess that was never going to ahppen

Will means helmet of determination (German) and does he show that detemination - yes he does

Thomas is his middle name which is my last name and it means twin - no other children but maybe it could allude to the fact that we both share the same birthday!

We do choose names primarily for meaning (if it has a great meaning but sounds hideous it doesn't make the cut though!) and its origin.

Our son's name is Immanuel Avraham.
Immanuel means G-d is with us. We were TTC for 14 months before he was conceived. For most of this time we were in NY, struggling majorly in many aspects of our life there, not helped by the stress of TTC. We moved to Sydney a month before he was conceived to start over, it was still difficult (still is in many aspects) but it was an improvement and Immanuel was conceived the month we were planning on going to a dr about our lack of success. We decided to name him Immanuel because his conception was a sign to us that G-d is with us, no matter where we are and how hard it is, He is there, and Immanuel is our daily reminder, every time we look at him.

In addition to this, I converted to Judaism. As such my spiritual 'father' is Avraham (Abraham). My husband had wanted to include this in recognition of this (I wasn't so keen) but we decided to use this as the middle name as it complemented 'Immanuel' so well. Avraham was the first to really recognise not just G-d but His personal aspect in our lives ("G-d is with us") and went against everything he knew to pursue Him, just as I did when I decided to become Jewish.

P.S. Avraham actually means father of many but we chose it because of the person rather than the meaning, though who knows (I think I'd interpret that as more a spiritual thing than physical though).

Lola - Spanish for Sorrow, Sorrowful

Didnt look it up before naming her - and she is definately not sorrowful!! But still a Lola, so I choose not to believe in the meanings of names LOL

We're also a religious family and our girls names were chosen from the Old Testament too. We wanted them to be able to learn about a strong and faithful woman from the past and to associate their name with that

Also Hannah's name has special meaning as her great Oma was very sick with cancer during my pregnancy and towards the end she was allowed to come home to live with and be cared for by her daughter, my MIL, just around the corner from us. It seemed as if she was almost waiting for her great grandchild to arrived safely before she could pass on. My DH went straight from the hospital to tell her about Hannah's arrival and even though she wasn't able to respond to him he knew she understood. Just hours later she past away peacefully with her family around her.
Her name was Anna Catharina and our little one is Hannah Catharina in her honour.

Beck's full name is Rebekah Margaret......my middle name is Margaret and so is my Mums and her mother and my fathers mother are both Margarets....so it's quite a strong family name

I'm the worst mother I only mentioned Aidens..

Jessica - I dunno
Briahnna - I dunno
Skye - the sky

I got Briahnna from combining FIL and MIL's names (Brian and Dianne)
Jessica got her name because it was popular at the time (I was 17)
Skye.. I was high (happy gas)
