We named our daughter "Makena" which means Abundance in Hawaiian. The meaning which is more important to us and hence why we named her that is that we got married on a beach in Makena in Maui, Hawaii and love the link.

We are off to Hawaii next week to get our daughter christened on the same beach we were married on. Absolutely freaking out about 24 hours (because of domestic flights before international) on a plane.

Cheers,
Michelle

Elliot means "The Lord is good". He is a reminder of God's goodness and promises in a time of grief. His middle name is Thomas, named after my brother who died 6 weeks before Elliot was born.

Wow! it's really interesting reading this thread...

Izaak - I liked Zachary but it was too common at the time so I named him Izaak (with a different spelling just to be different) with a view to calling him Zak which we never ever have. The meaning of the name is to laugh as previously posted which definitely refers to him.

His middle name is John in reference to my grandfather who didn't get to meet my little man but who will forever be in my heart and mind and who I miss everyday.

Charlotte - just because we liked it? We were being wheeled into theatre and I just had a thing about her being named in case the worst should happen (she was a premmie bub) so it was either Jorja or Charlotte. DH is worried she is going to get "charlotte the harlot" when she goes to school??? Her middle name is Anne - same as me, same as my mum.

The only thing I could find about charlotte was that it was the feminine form of charles so if anyone has anything else i'd love to hear it!

Matt's name (Matthew John) both have similar meaning - gift from god. Which he is!! Although some days he tests me out!!

I should know what Brendon means but my pregnant friend has stolen my book and I can't even look it up. Maybe someone else can tell me????

Karen, Brendon is a form of Brendan, and it is Irish/Gaelic for "a raven".

Bec, apparently Charlotte means "womanly". There is no reference to it being derived from Charles. *shrug*

I found these on babynames.com.au in case you want to have a look.

First I have Nadia Ann, Nadia is Russian for hope and Ann is a family tradition which goes to the eldest female, it comes down from my Nana's side of the family to my mum, me and now Nadia

When Ashton came along it was his Dad's choice for naming, Well his dad has a thing for the Aston Martin, he did want to call him Aston btw but in the end after a bit of thinking he was called Ashton and his middle name is James which is after his Great Grandfather

And the new bub's name means Strength (which I feel is very fitting for this faze of my life I'm going through) and his middle name is after my Grandfather who I lovely very dearly and have been very close to, he has been very unwell the last year but is on the mend now
