Hi!
I've only been using cloth for about 4 months. When I started I thought they were really bulky, but you get used to it and also as bubba gets bigger they don't look as bulky. I also shopped around and got some really trim ones. If you start a thread asking for trim suggestions I'm sure you'll be inundated!! I LOVE mine now and I can't imagine going back.

Hi Nutchic,
if you're loking for sooper trim nappies ,there are lots of great varieties available out there. When you're choosing your nappies though, first work out what your priorities are, as some nappies are super absorbent but not so trim, and others can be trim but conmpromise on absorbency, and some nappies do both quite well. Ask your nappy seller those questions, ask on the forums, Before you buy your nappies, askLOTS of questions,...and you've come to the right place to do that! Welcome to Nappycino!

Hi,
We sound like we are in a very similar spot! I have a 5 month old baby girl and have been trying mcn's for the past 5 days. I also have a few to try so I can figure out which one I like the best... My two issues so far have been not liking the bulk (I have to admit I do like the 'little butt' look of a disposable) and adjusting to more frequent nappy changes. I do love the feel of cloth and the washing has been fine. The best bit is that our explosive breastfed poos have been staying IN the nappy - no more leaks (except the couple of times I have left the nappy on too long). Anyway, glad to hear I'm not the only one who misses the trim butt. Might head to the 'getting started with cloth' forum to start a thread if you haven't already! By the way, the trimmest of the ones I have tried so far is the itti bitti aio with snap in boosters (but still not sure if you are meant to have both in at the same time??...) Rebecca |

Rebecca with the itti you are supposed to have both boosters in at the same time. If you used just he top one it might not be enough to contain a full wee and you would be changing alot more frequently.

Thanks to the 2 Rebeccas!
Day 3 now and i am feeling a bit better. As I don't have many MCNs yet, I am still only using about half MCNs and half disposables each day. I think I prefer the AIOs at this stage, though the ones I have so far do take ages to dry (think this will be pretty standard from what I have read). Yes, Itti Bittis AIO keep coming up as a suggestion. I did start a thread in the AIO section of the brands discussion forum, and those ideas have helped heaps. have a great day.... not a great drying day for AIOs here unfortunately ![]() Deb |

Another alternative that worked brilliantly for us when Josie was smaller was prefolds with a well-fitting, gussteted cover (like Bambino Mio). Really trim, pretty absorbent and really fast drying. I used hemp/flannel prefolds and loved them!

Congrats on your decision to give cloth a go.
You've had lots of great suggestions already![]() I started cloth when Jessica was about 9 months old and found it bulky at first to, she was a skinny little thing so her pants were always slipping down with a sposie and cloth helps hold them up, jumpsuits/rompers can be difficult though. Now it just seems normal to see her with a cloth bottom and friends bubs in sposie look weird to me So you do get used to it after a while. I actually find that Jessica is more comfortable in bulkier nappies, we use a lot of terry flats with woolies, sometimes in her trimmer nappies she trips over her feet when she's running and runs with ease in flats Certainly doesn't affect their mobility like some will try and tell you, she was walking unaided at 12 months with no troubles in fitteds, flats or AIO's and starting running not long after.I love Bumgenius AIO's for trimness, though she is 19months now so nothing is very bulky on her anymore, unfortunatly there aren't any BG's in stock for a few weeks yet Maybe going up a size in pants/rompers will help with clothes fitting, and with warmer weather on the way, you might like to have her in just a nappy and top or dress to show off your nappies![]() Oops, Sorry for the long post, I can ramble sometimes

the bulky nappies are probably better for hips in babies - before the braces were developed, mums used to put babies with clicky hips in double terries. baby wearers choose slings and carriers that hold the legs in the froggy position as well, as the hanging type carriers (ie the old baby bjorn, kapoochie and others) are bad for their spine.
and nicely padded bottoms sure help when someone is learning to walk and frequent plopping onto bottoms happen
