Hi there,
I am mum to a 5 mo baby girl and have just started my cloth journey today! It has been a bit of a challenge frankly. I have only purchased a few fitteds and a couple of AIOs... I just wanted to see how they went before committing to one brand. The performance of the nappies in terms of absorbency etc seems good, but I am haaving difficulty getting used to cloth being considerably bulkier than disposables. I have been worrying all day that my gorgeous girl is uncomfortable/restricted etc etc in her new nappies. Her little legs seem splayed so far apart in them!!!! I was probably more comfortable putting the AIOs on her so far as they are much trimmer. Not sure how I will go with this.... Are there any other nutters out there like me???? Most people seem completely wrapped with MCNs. Maybe I am too used to disposables... (Sigh!...) |

Hi! Welcome to Nappycino.
There are plenty of trim brands out there if that's what you like ![]() My son doesn't seem to have splayed legs in any of his nappies except his night ones (by which stage he's going to bed so not playing in them YK?) He did in some when he was towards the bottom of the size range, but it never bothered him. If you think about previous generations all growing up in flats that were probably quite bulky between our legs when we were little, we're fine I don't think you're a nutter though, any change takes getting used to.I used disposablse with my first but my son was cloth from the start so I never really noticed a difference - on the odd occasion he's worn a disposable I found them very strange-feeling, so Ithink it's all about what you're used to.

Hi and welcome to the cloth community!
I''m sure that with time you'll find some great nappies that work well for your daughter.

It also depends on which nappies you have and how the they fit to suit her shape as well. If they are a bulkier style or a bigger size then they are going to look big on her. Although most things are bigger than a disposable but it really isn't a big deal once you get used to it.
Good luck anyway

Thanks to everyone who responded so quickly.
Glad to hear I am not alone in the "nutter" stakes! ![]() I will definitely persevere. My bub is quite chunky, but short (like me and my husband), so i think that part of the bulkyness is because they seem to come halfway down her thighs (short legs!!!), especially with both the inserts in the fitteds, and the cover on... Tomorrow's another day! |

welcome
![]() maybe try with only 1 booster to reduce bulk? ![]() longies/shorties (wool pants) or fleece pants/shorts can be used as both pants/covers and reduce bulk. theres knitted styles or bumjumper/recycled wool style like from fully wooly fak or would link..
