Welcome back to NC, I remember when you were posting before

I have a 3 year old still in night nappies and he weighs 19.4kg. I still use the same size Wild Child dreamy nights nappy for him as I do for my skinny 20 month old, just the normal sizes, though I hear you can get a bigger size WCDN. Sam is TT during the day but is a fairly heavy wetter overnight. I just use woollies or his bear Bottoms fleece cover.

Hi Tim,

Nice to see you here again! I've only just returned after a longish hiatus also

Nappy wise, given that you are likely to be using them for quite a long time I think I would be looking for a custom from a sewing WAHM... you could even approach a few until you find the perfect nappy for your little girl. I think most would be happy to try and help you out. Have you thought about or tried fitteds with wool for overnight? That was always my fave combo until Jack TT'd, and he was a pretty big boy by then so we just boosted and boosted. We couldn't find a pocket or AIO that was absorbent enough for him overnight at that stage...

Non nappy wise could you ask your lovely wife to email me if/when she gets a chance? flashplastic@gmail.com I changed ISP's a while ago and lost a heap of email addy's, hers being one of them! Would love to catch up with her

Hope you are all happy and as well as can be, and big congrats on the arrival of little Hannah as well!!

Cheers,

Do I win the prize for the longest break before following up on my own thread? :-D

Thanks all for your ideas. Especially in the long term, custom nappies will be necessary... so now's probably a good time to start.

So... where to find interested WAHMs to work with? Is there a section here for such discussions that I missed in my cursory glance over? It's changed so much since I've been away...

Anybody reading who might be interested... as I said above, we're very happy Fuzzybunz users, and would prefer to stay with something familiar. I don't think there's any harm done in copying the best points of their design... for custom-builds, in a size they don't make, for a special needs child. So, I'm imagining PUL/fleece pockets with front snaps, and stuffers to suit. Serious stuffers. DW is getting tired of changing Sarah's bed.

Anybody with the right supplies and skills to make these nappies for us... I'd love to hear from you. Email is best... nappycino@timpaton.net will get through.

Cheers,
tim

read JohT's post again

http://www.nappycino.com.au/forum/574978-post5.ht

Welcome back.

Fuzzibunz are a PUL pocket -

The limitation of PUL is that it doesn't breathe as well for nights (long wears).

And when the pocket is up to 100% absorbency (overnight), then the bedding will get wet.

IF you use wool overnight, say over a fitted night nappy, - in the same situation, once the fitted night nappy is totally soaked, then the wool cover keeps on absorbing fluid

see the link WHY WOOL on the home page of this forum.

WIth fitted nappies, you can outer boost too - that is , you add a trifold etc OVER the nappy, but UNDER the cover.

ANother option is FLONGIES - which are polar fleece pants with a hidden shorts layer of microfleece. It is a combination of pj pant and nappy waterproof cover.

Some people get an old wool blanket, "felt it", eg hotwash and hotdry it so the fibres are very dense. THey put this under the sheets and it protects the mattress.

COngrats on your two daughters.

* Where can I buy larger sized cloth nappies?

People with more rapidly growing babies or older children sometimes have trouble finding XL and larger nappies. Some nappies available in larger sizes include Honeyboys, Happy Heinys, Very Baby, Pea pods, Fuzzibunz, Pookey Pockets, Bits for Bots, Keester Kovers, Bubblebubs, Baby Bloomers, Motherease bedwetter pants, Yoyo pocket trainers, and Naturally Mum hemp sleepers. All can be found in our Links section. In addition, many WAHPs who do custom nappy sewing will sew a larger size on request.
