Default Ginger Beer Mumma

Hi there ladies!
My name is Kirsty and I am in Perth. Originally from the Hunter Valley, did high school in Sydney and Uni in Wollongong. Got married and then knocked up all quite recently and so am trying to jam alot of decision making and stuff into a short amount of time!

We are wanting to go MCN's because of the weekly budget (We can't add dispossible costs to it when I am having 12 months WOP). I am currently working as a Graduate Engineer but have only been here for 5 months of a 24 month contract (Am 5 months pregnant too!), so no maternity benefits!

We are investigating the options in MCN's but I think I have my eye on some pretty good ones.
It is hard though with some friends making un-helpful comments that day care centers don't allow them and stuff... but that is another reason why I'm here! To learn how to set the record straight!!!

Hope to get to know a few of you quite soon! I am a birth.com.au person normally but am glad this forum is here too to provide for this need!

Thanks
Kirst

Thanks ladies!
I will be shopping vicariously though others as I love many types and things but I guess it comes down to 2 big things...
1. Cost
2. What i convince myself in! hehehe... I am a terrible shopper. I buy the wrong thing after convincing myself it is the right thing...

Are there any posts that come to mind about dealing with prejudices and MCN's? For things like the day care issues and the snooty friends issue??

Thanks

Kirsty you still have some time up your sleeve so one thing to keep an eye out for is Reusable Nappy Week events in October. It will give you a good opportunity to see some MCN in real life and chat to experienced cloth users. I am organising the events for Perth and at this stage there will be a shopping centre stall on 3 days and an info session and sewing workshop. They arent listed yet but will eventually be noted here Reusable Nappy Week (or you can PM closer to the time and I can let you know whats planned). We have a great bunch of girls over here in Perth only too happy to help.
With the day care thing, it varies some are really keen and the odd one hedre or there refuse to use them but a lot of people have successful experiences using cloth in day care settings. The Australian Nappy Network has a fact sheet which may help when the time comes Do you want your childcare centre to use cloth nappies? « Australian Nappy Network
