Hi Ann, Welcome.
Hope you find a good option for you. If you want something similar to sposies, my vote is for pockets because they are trim and easy to put on like sposies but they dry much faster than AIO's cause you pull out the stuffing and open it up to dry it. Also with a pocket they have a fleece/microsuede inner already built in so easy to get poop off like a sposie and keep bubs really dry too. They can be customised so they are trimmer day time when not much absorbancy needed and bulkier at night when you want em to last long time. I found cloth could wayyy outlast a sposie for my heavy wetter DS at night ) Id check out GreenKids - great pocket nappies & lots of great info on their site about cloth in general too

Welcome annb!

I'm the resident "poo phobic" and I also hate washing - I think its the worst chore of the house.... and I'm also a full-time clothie. Even use cloth travelling, camping etc.

So yeah, its definitely possible. My system - I use flushable liners (so I don't touch poo) on top of polar fleece liners (so the poo'ed on liner comes off easily) and I have a lot of nappies (so I don't have to wash too often). Its great!

Though I have to admit, converting to cloth made me not hate washing as much... on some days its even.....well, almost fun! (emphasis on "almost")

(just a note that one brand of AIO (Rumpsters) does dry as fast as fitteds because the inner opens out, a bit like overlapping shutters.)

my suggestion would be to use a washing machine! then all it takes is an extra 2 seconds to hang on the line! oh, and 2 to take off again

eilleen, you've gotta stop taking the nappies down to the creek to beat them on the rocks!

Hi and welcome

I think a Pocket Nappy, as long as it has a microfleece inner, you can just change the stuffing and reuse the nappy (as long as it's not dirty).

As far as I know the recommendation is to change the entire nappy, pee or poo, but it's been a while since we had pockets so I'm sure someone can confirm/not that .

I would think most everyone washes the entire nappy nappy once wet - I do!
I wouldn't recommend that you re-use it - but the good things about pockets is that you could even rinse it out in a bucket of lightly soapy water (if you needed to re-use the nappy quite soon, say not having enough?) and they dry in no time! (You just might need more inserts than pockets if you need a fast drying time. I have used flannellette flats ($12 f0r 6 from kmart) folded up as inserts - quite cheap and quick drying)

Also - another thing you can do to get more use from a pocket - is to use it as a cover. just pad-fold the terry or flannellete square and lay it on top of the pocket (rather than inside the pocket) -and add a fleece liner. then when it's wet you can change the nappy and keep using the 'cover' until it gets soiled (usually by poo) - just abit more hygenic than having bub's bits incontact with soiled fleece all the time

My fave pockets are greenkid's too. Sandra's stuffables also worked fantastically well for us used this way as a cover too
