Hi Peekaboo

I made up a heap of newborn fitted nappies while I was pregnant and was able to use these on DD from birth onwards. I did use a bit of hemp, but the majority were made out of really cheap flannellette so they didn't cost much. Contained the explosive poo very well There are plenty of ways you can go about it, but I just remember how much I enjoyed making my first lot of nappies (I hadn't ever sewn anything before) ... if you like making nappies, you don't have much to lose by knocking out some

Mind you, I also found it very handy to have plenty of flannellette (and terry) squares around. (I've never used prefolds but looking back on it, they would have been a good purchase too.)

DD and DS1 were in terries/flannel. (7lb 12oz and 7lb 1oz) But that was before I knew about modern cloth, and as you can see once I found fitteds I was hooked!
DS2 was in OFA fitteds with gussets (pootainment!) from birth (sewed those) no probs. (7lb 14oz or 3.5kg)

Thanks for all your opinions
I had planned on using flats with a pocket as a cover until bub was big enough for the stuffed pocket, so I will go with my original thought!
Thanks!

I like fitted for newborns, then pockets. I had a favourite snazzipants pocket we got in a secret santa for when Sam was a newborn. It was fleece lined and just lovely. I came across the site in the nappy hunt and am looking at getting one in his size now. They are from NZ, but I think the exchange rate and cheap postage for OS makes them a good buy.

hi everyone;
can anyone recommend good brands/makers of fitted nappies for newborns to 4kg, esp to contain runny poos and wee leaks?

so far i have 4 small Mother-ease Sandys, some Happy Heiny pockets (which i may not use as i'm hearing that their not as absorbable against leaks..), and some Mother-ease One-Sizes (which i hear is bulky so i don't want to use them in those early months)..

i'm thinking of looking for more fitteds in the little sizes, esp if i can find them second-hand so that i won't waste too much money only using them for a few months..
i don't mind boosting, if it's not too bulky to use.

any recs are very welcome =)
